Support Survivors of Domestic Violence - Training Provided!

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VOLUNTEER COUNSELORAre you interested in supporting people impacted by domestic violence? Do you want to join a community committed to racial, social and economic justice? Volunteers are the backbone of our agency. We attribute our strong foundation to the support provided by volunteers and to their dedication to supporting survivors of domestic violence. We are deeply committed to our volunteers and experience great joy in providing personal and professional growth opportunities for them. RequirementsThe following are our general requirements for volunteer applicants: Must be 18 or over Living with in the Bay Area in California W.O.M.A.N., Inc. offers the required 40-hour training on domestic violence for applicants interested in providing support and education. Our updated 40-hour training is a hybrid learning experience that combines the use of online modules and in-person activities. All applicants are required to read our Cultural PraxisWe ask all volunteers to commit to at least four consecutive hours of service every week for a year. This is completed through one shift on our 24 hour support line. Training participants and volunteers must have access to the internet during training and their support line shifts. Please note that this opportunity requires the California state mandated 40 hour Domestic Violence training prior to volunteering. Training will be held online on alternating Thursday evenings from 6-8 pm and in person on alternating Saturdays from 10 am - 4:30 pm. We are unable to offer the training and volunteer opportunities to out of state residents. Participants must be living within the Bay Area as our office is located in San Francisco and services are focused within San Francisco/Bay Area.
