Machine Operators 1 will need to have the ability to operate or learn to operate (within one year) numerous machines and equipment. The ability to understand verbal and written instructions is essential and ability to work in a team environment as well as independently while adhering to all safety standards and protocols is key. Knowledge of and ability to adhere to Lock/out Tag/out protocols consistently and without fail.\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities (Competencies)\nAbility to read a tape measure.\nAbility to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches or other specifications.\nAbility to promote a safe work environment.\nAbility to take initiative and be a self-starter to meet production demands and schedules.\nAbility to work independently and in a team environment.\nBasic mechanical knowledge and ability.\nKnowledge of product, mechanics, shop mathematics, shop processes and procedures.\nOperate overhead crane\nBlueprint reading\nEquipment utilized in Steel Fabrication includes:\nElectric grinder\nOxygen/acetylene torch\nMetal plate shear\nAngle punch line\nPress brake\nPlate rolls\nRoundo (angle/beam rolls)\nPlasma burn table\nPipe bender\nSmall parts iron worker punch shear\nVertical and horizontal marvel band saw\nCold blade saw\nEssential Job Functions\nOperates mobile crane equipment and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment.\nSets up and operates machines to make production parts to standard shop blueprints.\nGrinding where grade and type of abrasives are being determined by others.\nPaints where finish or compliance to specifications are critical.\nOperates machines that require minimal skills and experience, such as presses, shears, saws, rolls, etc.\nMay perform various warehouse activities involving receiving, special order and inventory.\nCollaborate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to ensure efficient, safe loading and unloading operations.\nEnsure safe, timely loading and unloading processes.\nGuide and train coworkers to promote continuous and efficient performance.\nMaintains a clean work environment.\nPerforms other duties requiring similar skills and abilities as assigned.\nRegular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.\nThe ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.\nEducation and Experience\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.\nExperience with trucks under three tons (i.e. tractors and fork-trucks), mobile crane equipment and overhead cranes.\nSchedule:\n10-hour shift\nDay shift or 2nd shift\nMonday to Friday\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nExposure to dust, fumes, noise and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS:\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, handle, grasp or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.\nAdditional effort requirements consist of, but are not limited to, lifting, pushing and pulling material, stairs, and ladders.
