This could be a great opportunity for those retired and looking for work on a project basis.\nCompensation: 25+ an hour based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.\nCONSTRUCTION OBSERVER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\nReview signed contract agreements between contractor and the water utility company for construction project guidelines.\nWhen renewing or replacing waterlines, able to check service lines for type of setting (inside meter or pit meter), whether it a long or short service and the total number of service connections.\nComplete a follow-up review of prints and a field check of all plans designed by the water utility company when engineering has been completed.\nReviewing video tape of project prior to the start of construction.\nAttending pre-construction meeting and complete daily inspections of construction of waterlines including the water utility company lines, developer projects to ensure compliance with the water utility company’s standards and regulations.\nLocating main line valves and verifying operation to ensure shut down.\nPerform observations on all large taps on the water utility company’s waterlines.\nVerify delivery of all material when ordered by the water utility company to ensure accuracy of delivery. Along with checking materials out of the water utility company stock yard when picked up by the contractor and charging out materials from the water utility company stock to ensure accuracy of inventory.\nPrepare valve cards and hydrant cares and provide numbering and placing on distribution map.\nPerform the filling of all lines, witness pressure tests, flush and sample for bacteria testing. Afterwards, deliver the samples to filter plant.\nPlace a new main in service and notify the fire department along with local officials.\nMaintaining daily inspection reports, mileage reports and time ticks for every project.\nAbility to complete “as-built” documentation per the water utility company guidelines.\nOccasionally travel to other project locations within Ohio.\nAdditional responsibilities:\nUnderstanding of construction trades and installation work\nUnderstanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.\nDesire to innovate and solve difficult problems from inception to final deliverable.\nAbility to work independently and in team settings.\nCONSTRUCTION OBSERVER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:\nEducation:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required, technical degree preferred.\nQualifications:\n3+ years of fabrication, installation and/or construction related experience, required.\nExperience with lead water line replacement and lead piping documentation is required.\nAbility to pass background checks, drug tests and MVR check.\nPhysical:\nMust be able to traverse worksite in different types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make observations.\nUnderstands the exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.\nMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.\nLJB Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
