The Vision Systems Electrical Engineer will provide engineering design, test, and troubleshooting skills for the complex vision systems of Intuitive Surgical’s endoscopes and vision processing systems. This is an opportunity to use design, test, analysis, and data mining skills in new product as well as product in the field. The successful candidate will have both the technical depth to resolve complex electrical design and manufacturing issues and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team to troubleshoot higher level system issues. A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward is required as well as a commitment to high product quality.\nEssential Job Duties\nWork in cross-functional project teams to improve product reliability and manufacturability\nInvestigate and determine root causes of both latent and emerging designs\nWork with Failure Analysis teams to determine failures in the field\nWork with New Product teams regarding electrical design of new products\nWork with Supplier Engineering regarding supplier and material continuity\nWork with Manufacturing teams regarding building new product\nCollaborate with software, firmware, mechanical, optical, test, quality, and clinical engineering teams\nQualifications\nRequired Experience and Education\nMinimum 8 years experience in electrical design engineering or related fields with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience\nRequired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nFamiliarity with various communication protocols includes I2C, UART, and SPI\nSchematic capture is a must (ORCAD or equivalent)\nPCB layout is a nice-to-have\nExperience designing for signal integrity\nExperience with opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical devices is a strong plus\nExperience in the medical industry is a strong plus\nComfortable with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer to Manufacturing\nKnowledge of scripting language including but not limited to Matlab, Python, JavaScript,\nHands-on engineer with the proven ability to work well in a team environment\nComfortable with setting up experiments, selecting, and using measurement and test equipment\nStrong understanding of component selection criteria, and design for reliability and manufacturability\nProficient in process development and documentation\nAbility to travel up to 10% time\nProven experience in a fast paced, high transaction environment\nGood presentation skills and comfortable with hosting design reviews\nA real excitement to learn and get to the bottom of tough technical problems\nA passion for creating robust and reliable products\n\nAdditional Information\nDue to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
