Controller will lead all accounting and financial reporting functions for Cortex. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance and disciplined cost accounting across all company operations. ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Close ProcessOversee the monthly, quarterly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAPPrepare and review consolidated financial statementsEstablish and maintain accounting policies, procedures and documentationPartner with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysisCost Accounting & Inventory ManagementOversee inventory valuation and controls, including WIP and finished goodsEnsure proper accounting treatment under ASC 330 (Inventory) Partner with operations to analyze cost drivers, improve margins and enhance production efficiencyInternal Controls & AuditDesign, implement and maintain a strong internal control environment, particularly in: Cash handling Inventory tracking and shrinkage preventionRevenue recognition (percentage of completion)Lead external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory examinersDevelop scalable processes and controls in anticipation of growth or institutional investmentSystem & Process ImprovementAssist in implementation and continuous improvements of Acumatica (ERP System)Manage and optimize accounting functions in Acumatica (ERP System)Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to support rapid growth and operational scaleExplore AI and advanced analytics solutions to streamline accounting processes, including but not limited to automated reconciliations and anomaly detection in inventory and cost dataRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance7–12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a Controller or leadership role Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting Experience with inventory-intensive and/or manufacturing environmentsPreferred QualificationsCPA Experience in private equity – backed or high-growth environmentsWorking knowledge
