If you'd like to be part of a team with a progressive culture and modern engineering practices, this could be the role for you.\r\nThe Role\r\nThis is an exciting opportunity to get stuck in at a fast-paced, tech-focused, impact-driven start-up.\r\nAs a Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously while collaborating closely with product, design, and operational teams to deliver high-quality solutions.\r\nSome recent examples of work include\r\nCreating a bespoke workflow-management and vote-submission system to support the scaling of our internal processes to match demand.\r\nPrototyping new AI-based solutions to help support stewardship teams.\r\nRefactoring legacy services onto a new stack to improve developer experience and increase engineering velocity.\r\nWe have a culture of openness, support and giving feedback. As an engineering team, we spend one day each month learning new things together to maintain our skills and explore new ideas.\r\nWhat You'll Bring\r\nTo be successful in this role, you'll bring:\r\nA desire to learn new things and continuously improve\r\nA hands-on approach and willingness to tackle complex engineering challenges\r\nExperience working as part of a team on a high-quality software stack\r\nA strong understanding of software engineering principles and computer science fundamentals, applied to building scalable, efficient, and maintainable systems\r\nExperience writing production code in Go, Python or TypeScript\r\nA strong interest in writing testable code and enthusiasm for adopting an automation-first approach (CI/CD)\r\nA good understanding of event-driven systems\r\nDesigning, implementing and maintaining automated data pipelines using AWS\r\nExperience designing and building RESTful APIs\r\nFamiliarity with IaC tools such as Terraform\r\nPrevious experience working in a scale-up environment\r\nWhat We Offer\r\nSalary: £50k - £65k, dependent on experience\r\nGenerous company share scheme – We are all owners of Tumelo and beneficiaries of our collective success\r\nPrivate health insurance – Full coverage via AXA, also including 24/7 private GP access, dental, optical, mental health support, physio and other benefits\r\nGreat Maternity & Paternity policies – We recognise how important maternity/paternity leave is to the wellbeing of our team.
