We are seeking a highly skilled Software Architect with prior experience in redesigning databases to contribute from day one. Our Back Office System is cloud-agnostic and databases are self-hosted on virtual machines (VMs).\r\nJob Summary: The Software Architect will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing a scalable and high-performance database solution. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience with SQL Server, performance tuning, and designing scalable database architectures that support microservices-based applications and AI-driven systems.\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\n\r\nAssess the current SQL Server database architecture and identify areas for improvement in scalability, performance, and maintainability.\r\nDesign and implement a new high-performance, future-ready database architecture to support a 5M daily transaction load and integration with microservices and AI-driven systems.\r\nDevelop and implement a comprehensive archival strategy for cold, warm, and hot data storage to efficiently manage a large-scale system of 100TB.\r\nWork closely with application developers to ensure database design aligns with the microservices architecture.\r\nOptimize database performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks, indexing strategies, and query tuning.\r\nDevelop and implement best practices for database design, partitioning, indexing, and data archiving.\r\nEnsure high availability and disaster recovery strategies with near-zero RPO and RTO, considering the multi-agency information handled by the system.\r\nCollaborate with DevOps teams to automate deployment, backup, and monitoring processes.\r\nImplement data security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards.\r\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to the development and operations teams.\r\nStay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server technologies and industry trends.\r\n\r\nRequired Qualifications\r\n\r\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.\r\n8+ years of experience in SQL Server database design, development, and administration.\r\nProven experience in redesigning and implementing large-scale, high-performance SQL Server databases, with the ability to contribute from day one.\r\nStrong understanding of database scalability techniques such as sharding, partitioning, and indexing.\r\nExperience in handling large-volume databases (100TB+) and implementing efficient archival strategies.\r\nProficiency in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting database issues.\r\nExperience with self-hosted SQL Server databases on virtual machines (VMs).\r\nHands-on experience with database migration, backup, and recovery processes.\r\nFamiliarity with data modeling techniques and tools such as ERwin or PowerDesigner.\r\nStrong knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, and triggers.\r\nExperience with microservices architecture and integrating databases within distributed systems.\r\nExcellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.\r\nStrong communication and collaboration skills.\r\n\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\n\r\nTolling Experience is strong plus\r\nAny relevant SQL Server certification is preferred.\r\nExperience with NoSQL databases and hybrid database solutions.\r\nKnowledge of AI-driven database optimization and predictive analytics.\r\nKnowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.\r\nSeniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level\r\nEmployment type Employment type Contract\r\nJob function Job function Management and Manufacturing\r\nIndustries IT Services and IT Consulting\r\nReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at ProcessQ Inc by 2x\r\nGet notified about new Server jobs in Union, NJ .\r\nServer - TAO Downtown Restaurant New York EWR Server Assistant at EWR Airport Terminal A Server - TAO Downtown Nightclub New York We're unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
