Ability to manage the learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies.Working Conditions: Physical Demands:Classroom EnvironmentDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboardHearing and speaking to exchange informationSeeing to read a variety of materialsSitting for extended periods of timeBending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to file materialsQualifications:A valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in assigned teaching field as required by the Professional Standards Commission.* Special Education General Curriculum or Special Education Adaptive Curriculum, depending on assignment* Appropriate content area(s)Must possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as required for the positionThe Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions:Complete designated follow-up procedures for students referred for special education servicesDevelop, implement, monitor, and annually review the Individual Education Program (I.E.P.) of each eligible student on the caseloadWork with parents in all aspects of their child's educational programSupervise paraprofessionals assigned to provide support to selected students in resource, self-contained and/or regular class settingsCompile, maintain and submit all required reports in a timely mannerProvide educational services according to the guidelines of the program and through the established delivery model for serviceAssure that all due process procedural safeguards are afforded students and their parentsUse special methodology for instruction, according to the population needsImplement assistive technology as indicated according to IEPEffectively utilize available technology in the development of the IEP and related documentsUse carefully designed behavior management strategies, as indicatedAdminister on an on-going basis evaluations of student progress toward mastery of established goals and objectives, and report progress to parentsServe as a resource to the regular education teachers who teach mainstreamed exceptional studentsPerform special duties required for meeting the unique needs of specific populations including but not limited to lifting physically handicapped studentsPossess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credentials as may be required for this positionFollow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual mannerParticipate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignmentReview current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilitiesEnsure confidentiality of student informationEnsure adherence to safety proceduresFollow federal and state laws, as well as Board policiesPerform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designeeApplicants will be selected for interview.
