This role oversees 3D CAD Modelers and CAD Technicians and serves as a key technical connection between clients, project management, engineering, survey, CAD production, and field operations.\n\nThe ideal candidate combines strong technical CAD and Civil 3D experience with leadership, organization, and a practical understanding of surveying and construction. You will help ensure that accurate, current, and field-ready project information moves efficiently from design and modeling through survey and construction.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nLead and coordinate the daily workload of the CAD Department, including assigning work, monitoring deadlines, and balancing scheduled production with urgent field needs.\nMaintain ownership and version control of project CAD models, ensuring teams are working from current, approved information.\nOversee the development and maintenance of 3D construction models, surfaces, stakeout files, machine-control files, as-built models and drawings, shop drawings, and other digital project deliverables.\nEstablish and maintain efficient workflows between CAD personnel, survey crews, project management, engineering, and field operations.\nReview models, surfaces, drawings, and field files for accuracy and quality before release.\nVerify coordinates, elevations, units, datums, coordinate systems, project control, surfaces, and other critical model information.\nManage CAD updates resulting from design revisions, RFIs, change orders, approved revisions, and field changes.\nDevelop and maintain department-wide CAD standards, templates, file structures, naming conventions, and production procedures.\nProvide technical leadership, training, mentoring, and troubleshooting support to CAD personnel.\nSupport Party Chiefs, Lead Surveyors, Superintendents, and other field personnel with models, surfaces, stakeout information, machine-control files, and other digital deliverables.\nTroubleshoot CAD, survey, modeling, field-file, and workflow issues.\nCoordinate directly with clients, Project Managers, Project Engineers, Survey Managers, and field personnel regarding CAD and digital deliverable requirements.\nEvaluate new software, hardware, and technology that may improve productivity, accuracy, and field support.\nIdentify opportunities to standardize or automate repetitive CAD processes.\nHelp ensure lessons learned and process improvements are incorporated into future projects.\nSurvey & Construction Modeling\n\nThis position will oversee and support the development of a wide range of CAD and modeling deliverables, including:\n\nExisting-ground, proposed-design, and working construction surfaces\nGrading, roadway, utility, structure, and site models\nStakeout and survey point files\nMachine-control models and files\nAlignments and profiles\nAs-built models and record drawings\nShop drawings and construction exhibits\nEarthwork and quantity information, when required\nRequired Qualifications\nSignificant CAD production experience, preferably within surveying, civil construction, heavy civil, site development, or a related industry.\nPrevious experience managing, supervising, or leading CAD personnel.\nStrong 2D and 3D CAD experience.\nStrong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.\nExperience developing and maintaining 3D surfaces and construction models.\nExperience supporting survey and construction field operations.\nUnderstanding of coordinate systems, datums, elevations, units, and survey control.\nStrong understanding of construction workflows.\nStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.\nAbility to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced experience with Autodesk Civil 3D\nAdvanced experience with Trimble Business Center (TBC)\nMachine-control modeling experience\nGPS/GNSS survey workflow experience\nTotal Station and data collector workflow experience\nPoint cloud and scanning experience\nEarthwork and quantity calculation experience\nExperience with heavy civil, transportation, industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction projects\nExperience with Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar platforms\nExperience coordinating directly with clients and engineering firms\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nThe successful candidate will be a technical leader who understands that accurate CAD information directly impacts field production.
