Solutions Engineer - Transportation Systems [REMOTE]

Iteris is seeking a Solutions Engineer to support our sales organization with technical expertise across our portfolio of hardware, software, and connected infrastructure solutions. This individual contributor role focuses on enabling Federal, State, and Local transportation agencies to adopt and implement Iteris technologies that improve traffic safety, optimize operations, and support sustainable mobility initiatives.As a key technical partner to sales and customers, you’ll provide hands-on solution support throughout the sales process, acting as a bridge between technical capabilities and agency needs.What You Will Be DoingSupport pre-sales activities by delivering technical discovery, solution design, and customer-facing presentations across Iteris’ ITS sensor hardware, CV2X platforms, and cloud-based analytics toolsParticipate in proposal development, RFP responses, pricing inputs, and pilot deployment planningCollaborate with sales, product, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with agency goals, funding strategies, and project scopesEngage as a technical generalist across Iteris' portfolio, while knowing when to bring in deeper subject matter expertsProvide input on solution configuration, compatibility, and field requirementsConduct product demonstrations, lead technical discussions, and help educate agency stakeholders on solution capabilitiesMaintain activity records in Salesforce (training provided if needed)Deliver customer feedback and market insights to help evolve product and go-to-market strategiesWhat You Need To Be Successful In This RoleBachelor's degree in engineering, transportation systems, computer science, or related field; equivalent experience acceptedPE license or ITS certification/accreditation is a strong plusOver five (5) years in a solutions engineering, pre-sales, or technical consulting role; public sector or transportation domain experience strongly preferredStrong working knowledge of intelligent transportation systems (ITS), connected vehicle technologies, or mobility software platformsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to engineers, operators, and executivesProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platform is a plus (training available)Analytical problem-solver with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, startup-style environmentThe anticipated on target earnings for this role are $128,000 to $145,000. This amount includes annual base pay plus quarterly commissions.
