This role focuses on implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and research-based strategies to improve student behavior, academic performance, and social-emotional skills in a structured learning environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Behavior SupportProvide individualized and small-group instruction aligned to students' IEP goals.Implement and monitor Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).Teach and reinforce appropriate behaviors, social skills, and coping strategies.Utilize research-based behavior management strategies, including PBIS and de-escalation techniques.IEP Implementation and ComplianceDevelop and implement IEP goals and accommodations in collaboration with the ARD committee.Maintain accurate documentation of student progress toward IEP goals.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education requirements.Data Collection and Progress MonitoringCollect and analyze behavioral and academic data to inform instruction.Track frequency, duration, and intensity of behaviors.Adjust interventions based on data and student progress.Collaboration and CommunicationCollaborate with general education teachers, administrators, counselors, and behavior specialists.Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and behavior.Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and campus support meetings.Classroom Environment and ManagementEstablish a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment.Implement consistent routines, expectations, and behavior systems.Manage student behavior using proactive and reactive strategies.Professional ResponsibilitiesParticipate in professional development related to behavior management and special education.Support campus-wide behavior systems and initiatives.Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.QualificationsEducation* Bachelor's degree from an accredited universityCertification* Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Special EducationExperience* Experience working with students with behavioral challenges preferred* Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies and special education lawKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of behavior management strategies and interventionsAbility to develop and implement behavior plansStrong classroom management and de-escalation skillsAbility to collect and analyze behavioral dataEffective communication and collaboration skillsPatience, flexibility, and commitment to student successPhysical and Work ConditionsWork in a classroom setting with students who may exhibit challenging behaviorsAbility to stand, walk, and respond quickly to student needsMay require participation in crisis intervention and de-escalation procedures
