We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.\n\nWhat you'll do:\n\nThe ViaSat Access Edge Terminal Software team is responsible for the design, development, delivery and support of software running on embedded satellite terminal products (Ka-band, L-band, 5G) that are used in aviation, maritime, residential and other sectors.\n\nYou’ll be a software engineer working as part of a software team with a technical lead. You will be engaging & collaborating with other software teams working on embedded software, to achieve development, design, quality and agility goals.\n\nThe day-to-day:\nSoftware engineering as part of an agile development team\nDesign, develop and drive software products\nParticipate in design, development and code reviews of software with a view to deliver quality products in the short and long term\nCollaborate & coordinate with other software engineers and teams in driving timely delivery of quality software\nProduce software as an individual contributor.\nTravel up to 10%\nWhat you'll need:\n5 - 7 years’ experience in hands-on software development\nBachelor's in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering\nExperience using C/C++, Linux and embedded systems.\nProven experience with Linux/UNIX\nHands-on experience with Objected Oriented methodology & development\nRelevant coursework in computer science\nStrong analytical skills & ability to evaluate software design, including existing codebases\nStrong sense of ownership\nExcellent communication skills\nUS Citizenship is required\nWhat will help you on the job:\nExperience writing unit tests for C/C++.\nExperience using python in the functional test of embedded systems.\nKnowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and principles.\nFamiliarity with version control systems (e.g., git).\nExperience with GitHub Actions.\nLearning agility\nExperience with using AI tooling in software development\nBeing detail oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills\nAbility to collaborate and communicate in a team environment\nMaster's in computer science or computer engineering\nSalary range: $140,500.00 - $221,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $174,000.00- $261,000.00/ annually : At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional cash or stock incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
