Example projects may include roads, bridges, storm water facilities, potable water systems, sanitary sewer systems, trails, parks, and site development.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nResponsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:\n\nResearch design options codes and regulations applicable to the project and provide schematic level and preliminary designs while working closely with other team members.\nProvide detailed final designs and produce mark-ups to incorporate in drawings.\nPerform engineering calculations, analysis and design.\nProduce engineering reports and plans.\nMay serve as a designated Client contact on some projects.\nPerform quantity take-offs and prepare engineer's estimates for projects.\nCoordinate directly with Surveyors on project surveying.\nCoordinate directly with CAD Designers activities.\nCoordinate work with outside consultants.\nUtilize AutoCAD and/or Microstation software to prepare engineering design documents and basic drawings.\nPerform field activities during design and/or construction such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area as necessary.\nPrepare construction specifications for various types of projects.\nReview shop drawings and material certifications.\n\nEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE\nBachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited four-year college or university. Be enrolled as an Engineering Intern or hold a Professional Engineering License in the State of Missouri.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is often required to stand. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.\n\nRiding and/or driving in a vehicle is commonly required for up to 6 hours at a time.\n\nPOSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK\nThis is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. However, most work weeks will be 40 or more hours. Hours are somewhat flexible and some late evenings and/or weekends may be required.\n\nTRAVEL\nThere may be occasional overnight travel for this position.
