If you're ready to grow, contribute, and be part of something bigger, you'll feel right at home here.POSITION SUMMARYThe Safety Coordinator (SC) serves as the primary onsite safety leader assigned to a specific project. Working closely with the project management team, the SC is responsible for planning, directing, implementing, and sustaining Polk Mechanical's safety efforts. This includes daily field engagement, hazard identification, coaching, risk reduction strategies, safety training, documentation, and coordination with general contractors and subcontractors.The SC supports Polk Mechanical's goal of reducing risk, ensuring compliance, and strengthening the safety culture across mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, and welding operations. The SC may also assist with other safety needs within the region as directed. This scope is not limited to the activities listed below and may expand based on project requirements, regulatory changes, or client expectations.WHAT YOU'LL DOCoordinate with project supervision to implement safety protocols at all levels of the jobsite.Ensure GC, Polk, and regulatory safety expectations are clearly communicated and executed.Complete regular safety assessments, documenting hazards, corrective actions, and trends.Recommend improvement strategies and verify corrective actions are completed.Communicate frequently with the Safety Manager on safety issues, incidents, corrective actions, and high-risk activities.Maintain accurate and timely documentation in SMS/Procore or other assigned systems.Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to Safety Representatives and field personnel.Model Polk's safety culture and support professional development.Participate in required project safety committees, pre-task planning, and coordination meetings.Attend GC/OAC meetings and represent Polk professionally.Coordinate safety staffing for shutdowns, commissioning, live system tie-ins, or other high-risk activities on the assigned project.Lead or support incident investigations, gathering documentation and performing root-cause analysis.Assist supervision with required reports and corrective action plans.Deliver or arrange site-specific safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and coaching.Maintain accurate training records and sign-in sheets.Identify safety situations requiring immediate correction and interveneInteract professionally with general contractors, owners, client representatives, and other trades.Provide input toward enhancements of Polk Mechanical's safety programs, policies, and training materials.Assist employees with PATH/JHA, or other hazard-analysis tools.Review high-risk permits such as hot work, confined space, and lift plans.Utilize safety testing equipment (air monitors, sound meters, etc.) and document results.Lead or assist with recurring safety meetings, coaching sessions, and field engagement activities.WHAT YOU'LL BRINGKnowledge of general construction operations (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, sheet metal, welding)Understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulationsValid driver's license meeting company requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to coach, mentor, and influence field personnelHigh level of integrity and professionalism with strong passion for safetyAbility to work in a team setting and build strong working relationshipsAbility to perform jobsite walks, access elevations, and navigate construction environmentsProficiency in computers and safety reporting platforms (Excel, SMS/Procore)Strong organizational and time-management skillsCERTIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCECertifications: OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500, CSHO, CHST preferredEducation: High School diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health preferredExperience: 3 to 5 years of safety or construction experience preferredWHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HEREAt Polk Mechanical, you're more than an employee — you're part of Polk Nation.
