Data Modeling Analyst

FedTec is seeking a Data Modeling Analyst provides senior-level data modeling analysis and enterprise data support to the Data Administration team under assigned work order initiatives. The role is responsible for supporting Enterprise Data Architects (EDAs) by delivering logical and physical data modeling activities across multiple business domains and enterprise projects.The Data Modeling Analyst collaborates with EDAs, project teams, business stakeholders, database administrators, developers, and architects to translate business requirements into scalable, accurate, reusable, and standards-compliant data models aligned with enterprise architecture strategies and data governance standards.This role requires a collaborative professional with hands-on expertise in enterprise data modeling, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to contribute across data administration, metadata, and data governance activities as needed.Location: On-Site - Woodlawn, MDSecurity Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.Job Description:Provide logical and physical data modeling support for enterprise projects across multiple business domains.Develop, maintain, validate, and review logical and physical data models in alignment with enterprise data standards, governance policies, and modeling best practices.Partner with Enterprise Data Architects, business stakeholders, project teams, and database engineers to gather requirements and translate them into complete, scalable, and reusable data models.Review existing data models, schemas, metadata, and data dictionaries; recommend improvements aligned with enterprise architecture standards and modeling guidelines.Support enterprise reference data initiatives and related data architecture activities throughout the project lifecycle.Design and review database schemas across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, and other relational database platforms.Document logical and physical models, naming conventions, business rules, lineage mappings, and modeling decisions to support traceability and reuse.Perform data analysis, data profiling, and structure validation activities to identify data quality, integrity, and consistency issues.Provide modeling support for data integration, metadata management, data exchange, and interoperability initiatives utilizing formats such as JSON, XML, and Avro.Conduct requirements analysis sessions with technical and business stakeholders to ensure models accurately represent business processes and downstream integration needs.Provide consultation and guidance to developers, database engineers, analysts, and architects regarding enterprise data modeling standards and best practices.Support data administration and governance activities beyond modeling responsibilities as needed to support team priorities and operational objectives.Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to provide modeling expertise during project planning, analysis, design reviews, and implementation discussions.Maintain project documentation, standards artifacts, and modeling deliverables within Confluence, JIRA, SharePoint, and related collaboration platforms.Track model revisions, maintain version control for artifacts, and support auditability of model changes across project iterations.Prepare technical documentation, architecture diagrams, presentations, and weekly status reports in support of project deliverables and leadership updates.Required Qualifications:Equivalent combination of education, certifications, technical training, and demonstrated experience in enterprise data modeling, database design, or data architecture support. Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related field preferred.Minimum 7+ years of experience in logical and physical data modeling, enterprise data architecture support, database design, or data administration within complex enterprise or federal environments.Strong hands-on experience with relational and non-relational data modeling tools such as Erwin Data Modeler, Hackolade, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, or similar enterprise modeling tools.Demonstrated experience supporting multiple concurrent enterprise projects and business domains.Strong experience designing and reviewing database schemas across PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and DB2 environments.Strong understanding of relational modeling principles including normalization, denormalization, referential integrity, constraints, primary/foreign keys, and parent-child relationships.Experience applying enterprise data standards, naming conventions, metadata standards, lineage, and traceability practices consistently across projects.Experience translating conceptual models into logical and physical database designs and facilitating architecture and stakeholder review cycles.Strong business analysis and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to gather requirements and convert business needs into accurate data models.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical modeling concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.Strong collaboration skills with a proactive, team-oriented, and solution-driven approach to work.Experience reviewing existing enterprise data assets including schemas, dictionaries, metadata repositories, and documentation while identifying opportunities for optimization and standardization.Familiarity with open data formats and interchange standards such as JSON, XML, Avro, and API-driven data structures.Strong analytical, technical writing, problem-solving, and documentation skills.Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Confluence, JIRA, SharePoint, and collaboration/documentation platforms.Familiarity with federal IT environments, enterprise governance processes, and compliance-driven architectures preferred.Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification or active pursuit of certification preferred.Minimum Citizenship Status Requirements: US CitizenWhen You Join FedTec, You Are Joining a Family!
