This role performs legal analysis related to jurisdiction, complaint sufficiency, timeliness, and case disposition while supporting high-volume case processing operations in a structured federal environment. The Attorney – OCR Case Processing Support prepares legally sufficient work products, including evaluation memoranda, notification letters, dismissal letters, and related case documentation, while ensuring compliance with applicable federal civil rights statutes, Department procedures, and federal information protection standards. The performance of this position is key to RavenTek's performance on the contract, and therefore RavenTek's mission to support the customer.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nReview incoming complaints to determine eligibility for further processing under OCR procedures.\n\nConduct jurisdictional analysis under applicable federal statutes, including Title VI, Title IX, Section 504, ADA, and the Age Discrimination Act.\n\nEvaluate complaint sufficiency, including factual support, timeliness, waiver applicability, and legal basis.\n\nDetermine appropriate case disposition, including investigation, referral, rapid resolution, or dismissal.\n\nMaintain accurate and complete case documentation in accordance with Department procedures and federal standards.\n\nUtilize OCR Case Management (CMS) and Document Management (DM) systems to manage and track case activity.\n\nCommunicate with complainants and relevant parties to obtain clarification or additional supporting information as needed.\n\nSupport rapid resolution and evaluation-stage activities in accordance with OCR procedures.\n\nEnsure compliance with the Privacy Act, FOIA, FERPA, Section 508 accessibility requirements, and Department information security procedures.\n\nSupport quality assurance efforts to ensure written work products meet standards for technical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and timeliness.\n\nManage multiple assignments and competing priorities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.\n\nEnter actual time worked, once complete, at the end of the day, or no later than 10:00 a.m. the following workday, and submit timesheets at the end of each pay period.\n\nSubmit Monthly Status Reports on a regular basis, as required.\n\nMonitor RavenTek email on a regular basis, at least 3 times per week, and respond accordingly.\n\nComplete required compliance training as assigned.\n\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nKnowledge and Critical Skills\n\nStrong legal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\n\nKnowledge of federal civil rights statutes and regulatory frameworks.\n\nExcellent legal writing, research, and technical documentation capabilities.\n\nAbility to manage high-volume caseloads with competing priorities and strict timelines.\n\nWork effectively within structured workflows and standardized procedures.\n\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic case/document management systems.\n\nEducation & Work Experience\n\nJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.\n\nActive bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction.\n\nMinimum of 1+ years of relevant legal experience.\n\nExperience with civil rights law, administrative law, investigations, compliance review, or regulatory processes preferred.\n\nPrior experience supporting federal civil rights enforcement activities or education-related legal matters preferred.\n\nCertifications, Licenses\n\nActive bar membership required.\n\nSpecial Requirements\n\nAbility to obtain and maintain Public Trust level clearance.\n\nWork Environment\nEmployee will be working indoors in an office environment with other people. Potential moderate temperature fluctuations. Typical indoor and computer related noise level, and typical office, paper, and equipment related dust.
