This position will be responsible for participating in many facets of the construction process, such as general construction management, punch lists and executing self-perform work, in order to understand the building process and how JE Dunn executes projects. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.\nAutonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions on assigned area on responsibility, provides recommendations to supervisor and refers all exceptions to supervisor, as needed\nCareer Path: Senior Project Engineer or Superintendent 1.\nKey Role Responsibilities - Core\nPROJECT ENGINEERING FAMILY - CORE\n\nLearns and actively participates in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans and culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.\nParticipates with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.\nLearns and participates in the estimating and change management process and tools, including quantity take-off and review of subcontractor proposals.\nWorks on site with the project team to support a variety of tasks such as monitoring crew size, self-perform hours, materials, quantity and equipment.\nParticipates in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews and preparation of the necessary documentation.\nPosts drawings and specifications with most recent information.\nOrganizes and participates in various project meetings. Prepares and disseminates required documentation as appropriate.\nParticipates and prepares a variety of reports including project daily reports, weekly progress reports, unit reporting, percentage complete, daily manpower, production schedules, equipment tracking, etc., in order to support the project.\nPerforms periodic job site observations with project leadership.\nCreates procurement logs based on the project schedule and specification requirements. Tracks shop drawings and follows up with deliveries as directed by the project team.\nProvides progress updates and reports back to the project team to support the scheduling process.\nSupports the close out of projects, including but not limited to the punch list, operations and maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, etc.\nUtilizes company best practice standards and fundamentals for building and construction techniques.\nBuilds relationships and develops communication and interpersonal skills with tradespeople and project team members such as foreman, journeymen, superintendents, subcontractors, etc.\nDevelops an understanding about the various functions and support roles across the company and how each contributes to the success of a project.\nCollaborates and demonstrates teamwork in project setting.\nLearns and incorporates Lean practices into regular activities.\nLearns about best practices for identifying, developing and integrating self-perform opportunities into the project.\n\nKey Role Responsibilities - Additional Core\nPROJECT ENGINEER 2\nIn addition, this position will be responsible for:\nParticipates in implementing project safety plans and ensures a culture of compliance through use of training, toolbox talks and communication with Safety Representatives.\nSupports the preparation of estimates, schedules, work plans, daily logs, etc.\nPre-plans crew activities, fulfills the requirements of the daily task plan, completes look ahead schedule and provides updates to project superintendent.\nSupports and/or completes job set-up and project administration in CMiC and other company technologies.\nParticipates with project team in managing subcontractor(s) scope of work.\nCoordinates with internal project support functions as directed by project team.\nControls costs by evaluating and improving processes of assigned tasks.\nParticipates with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.\nAssists with the development and maintenance of project crew schedule.\nProvides analysis for MOC Materials and Other Costs and equipment on project site.\nSupports and participates in training and mentoring less experienced project team members.\n\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAbility to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner\nCommunication skills, verbal and written.\nProficiency in MS Office\nKnowledge of organizational structure and available resources\nKnowledge of Lean process and philosophy\nKnowledge of required construction technology\nAbility to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management\nKnowledge of self-perform and labor productivity\nAbility to assess and optimize project productivity\nKnowledge of specific trades and scopes of work\nAbility to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field\nIn lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.\nExperience\n2+ years construction experience.\nWorking Environment\nMust be able to lift at least to 50 pounds\nMay require periods of travel and/or relocation\nMust be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs\nMay be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)\nFrequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling\nOccasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen\nBenefits Information\nThe benefits package aligned to this position is Professional Non-Union.
