We are committed to supporting one another and growing together as a team.OpportunityThe Secondary Literacy Instructional Coach plays a critical role in supporting teachers across New York City partner schools to strengthen equitable literacy instruction and improve student outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced secondary Math educator or instructional leader who brings expertise in standards-aligned instruction, culturally responsive pedagogy, and adult learning.This is a fixed-term W2 role. Renewal is based on district renewals, instructional needs, and organizational priorities. Positions are available in Queens North and Bronx West. Additional districts may become available.This role requires NYCPS PETS clearance, and candidates must not have worked in NYCPS within the past year to qualify.TravelThis role requires regular in-person coaching in New York City partner schools. On average, you can anticipate 3 weeks per month of travel to assigned schools, providing up to 6 hours of in-person coaching per day.ResponsibilitiesProvide High Quality Math Instructional CoachingDeliver direct instructional coaching aligned to school and district prioritiesSupport teachers in implementing standards-aligned curriculum and research-based Math practicesUse data, student work, and observations to develop individualized coaching plansModel evidence-based Math practices and support teachers in improving instructional deliveryCoach teachers supporting multilingual learners and students with IEPsPartner With School LeadersCollaborate with leaders to identify instructional focus areasDevelop strategies to strengthen equitable Math instruction and student achievementCo-design supports aligned to school-level priorities, data, and instructional goalsLead Professional LearningDesign and facilitate equity-centered professional development for teachersSupport teachers in analysis of student data and curriculum implementationA proven track record in lesson internalization support, the ability to model lessons, and facilitating PLCs.Document & Codify Coaching WorkMaintain accurate coaching notes, plans, and partner deliverablesCodify tools, resources, and strategies that improve ANet's coaching modelRequirementsBachelor's degree in Education or related field5+ years of recent 6–12 Math teaching experience with demonstrated student impact3+ years of instructional coaching or teacher leadership experience, supporting teachers in conceptual/problem-based math settings.NYCPS PETS clearanceMust not have worked in NYCPS within the past year to qualify.CompetenciesIn order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:Expertise In Area of FocusDeep expertise in one or more of the following: Illustrative Mathematics (IM), Amplify Desmos, or i-Ready at the middle school level.Proficiency in NYCPS Mathematics Shifts and instructional routines like "Role-play Instructional Routines" and "Lesson Internalization (SWD, ML lens)"Experience implementing high-quality Math curriculaAn understanding of the specific assessment structures built into the curriculum and its digital platformCommunicationUses effective written and oral communication with internal staff, teams, and community served; demonstrates empathy and listeningPlanning and Prioritizing WorkBreaks down a work task/project into process steps and executes them effectively, adjusting course as neededCritical thinking and Data OrientationConsistently identifies, gathers, and applies relevant information to their workExperience with instructional tools such as Google Classroom, Class Dojo, or ChatGPT is also preferred.CompensationThe salary range for this position is between $80,376 - $120,564. New hires will start between the range minimum and midpoint ($80,376 - $100,470) based on qualifications assessed during the hiring process, past experience, and internal equity.
