Physical Education Teacher, Fall 2023 School Profile St. Monica Catholic School is a PreK-12 Catholic classical school located on Mercer Island, just east of Seattle, Washington. Our curriculum model, based on the Educational Plan of St. Jerome, immerses students in the beauty of Western civilization and the Catholic intellectual tradition. We are a parish school and bring students into the sacramental and liturgical life of St. Monica Catholic Church. Our grades 9-12 St. Monica Academy program was founded as a pilot in 2020 and has recently received archdiocesan approval. Ideal Candidate St. Monica Catholic School is seeking a PreK Lead Teacher and After-School-Care Coordinator for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. The ideal candidate will possess experience working with preschool students, a worldview informed by Christian anthropology, and an education background in early childhood learning, general education, or human development. St. Monica is interested in both experienced educators and those with a passion for young people and a willingness to pursue growth in the profession through regular coaching, professional development, and appropriate further study. The administration is committed to supporting both early career and veteran educators in their vocation. Responsibilities Lead and supervise assistant teacher to build engaging classroom experiences. Provide direct instruction in pre-literacy, numeracy, and social skills. Build positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and other partners. Manage enrollment and staffing of the afterschool care program (runs 3pm-5:30pm Monday through Friday). Help ensure the Early Learning Center provides a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment. Participate in school-wide recruitment efforts such as open house, marketing, etc. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Successful applicants will embody St. Monica Catholic School’s commitment to Christian intellectual, spiritual and moral formation in accord with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Minimum one year experience working in early childhood education Associate’s degree or higher in ECE or related field. Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or equivalent Early Childhood Education (ECE) course credits Knowledge of early childhood licensing preferred Complete Virtus safe environment training and a background check Physical Requirements: Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required such as: Modeling student movements and activities including but not limited to running, jogging, jumping, throwing, calisthenics, stretching, and body-weight exercises Functioning in a traditional classroom space – walking, sitting, standing, reaching, writing Must be able to sit for up to two hours looking at a computer monitor, using a keyboard/mouse and typing Must be able to stand for up to two hours instructing a classroom of learners Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis Benefits Information: Salary based upon education and experience.
