{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"3683e1ba7d52685bc90cffab","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/3683e1ba7d52685bc90cffab","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/3683e1ba7d52685bc90cffab","title":"Applications Engineer","description":"Roanoke, VA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a skilled Applications Engineer to define project system requirements and develop system specifications for Variable Speed Drive applications to industrial systems projects.\r\nEssential Duties Develop detailed system specifications through collaboration with mechanical original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and end-user clients, per the contract and global industry standards, to ensure high quality designs and on-time delivery for the following:\r\nLow and/or medium voltage variable frequency drives for new and/or retrofit projects.\r\nIncoming panels, harmonics filter panels, and output reactor panels.\r\nTroubleshoot low and medium voltage, AC and DC variable frequency drive application issues at client sites as assigned.\r\nCreate electrical circuit drawings to ensure a design that meets project requirements and quality standards.\r\nProvide timely technical guidance to internal and external clients and suppliers as required to ensure total project requirements are met.\r\nDevelop and maintain processes and procedures to support the configuration and tuning of VFDs.\r\nEnsure \"as shipped\" systems meet all client requirements as defined in the project contract, including system specifications and performance guarantees, while achieving business goals and objectives.\r\nPerform development related tasks for drive features or applications for new and existing VFDs as assigned.\r\nEvaluate supplier proposals to determine the best technical and most cost-effective solution for the application.\r\nManage equipment costs, recommending cost reductions when feasible.\r\nPrepare purchase specifications and ERP requisitions in a timely manner to support the project schedule.\r\nConduct detailed design reviews internally and externally with suppliers and clients.\r\nProvide technical and costing information for the preparation of technical proposals using client specifications and knowledge of company solutions.\r\nProvide technical consultation to assist clients in specifying solutions to technology challenges that result in projects for the company.\r\nProvide project management services as assigned.\r\nGeneral Employee Accountabilities Bring full effort to bear on tasks assigned by manager.\r\nGive manager best advice.\r\nGive earliest notice when work cannot be delivered as specified.\r\nCooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organizationally as specified by manager.\r\nExemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal Commitment.\r\nComply with all company policies, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws.\r\nRecommend viable improvements proactively.\r\nEnsure effective utilization of business tools and processes.\r\nRequirements Minimum Qualifications Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.\r\n2 years' related work experience in specifying, designing, commissioning, and/or maintaining low and/or medium voltage variable frequency drives.\r\nDemonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts.\r\nDemonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.\r\nDemonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility.\r\nProficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and Visio.\r\nAbility to climb and work on cranes at heights up to approximately 175 feet occasionally.\r\nAvailability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 15%, occasionally with limited notice.\r\nPreferred Qualifications 5 years' related work experience in specifying, designing, commissioning, and/or maintaining low and/or medium voltage variable frequency drives.\r\nDemonstrated knowledge of VFD application to complex coordinated control systems.\r\nDemonstrated knowledge of DC to DC or DC to AC VFD retrofit projects.\r\nDemonstrated project engineering and/or project management knowledge, skills, and experience.\r\nDemonstrated successful working relationships with mechanical OEMs and end-user clients.\r\nKnowledge of electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, etc.\r\nPhysical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.\r\nAbility to review and interpret detailed technical drawings and specifications.\r\nAbility to climb and work at heights up to approximately 175 feet occasionally.\r\nAbility to travel to project sites, manufacturing facilities, and industrial environments as required.\r\nAbility to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.\r\nEqual Opportunity Statement Flexicrew Technical Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer;
