The position serves as the point of contact for technology support and services, as well as the point of integration between the business functions of the department and its technology requirements.\r\nKey Responsibilities Assist in coordination of testing changes, upgrades and new software products, ensuring systems will operate correctly in current and future environment\r\nMake recommendations on functional and technical improvements to the environment\r\nParticipate in performance and volume analysis and design\r\nParticipate in performance improvement activities; identify and apply potential improvements related to the environment for an application\r\nProvide accurate and complete answers to general use and environment questions in a timely manner\r\nServe as the point of contact for technology support and services\r\nServe as the point of integration between the business functions of the department and the technology requirements of the department\r\nProvide desktop computer support\r\nServe as a point of contact for communication and coordination of service outages\r\nAttend and participate in bi-weekly team and problem review meetings\r\nManage the retirement and disposal of obsolete or broken computer equipment\r\nCoordinate the procurement and installation of new computer hardware and software\r\nCoordinate virus protection software programs within departments\r\nUnderstand the installation of software patches and upgrades\r\nProvide input to training and/or documentation materials regarding latest technical and functional design changes\r\nEnsure that all work is documented for future reference\r\nFollow quality standards\r\nEnsure effective and reliable backups are being performed\r\nProactively address customer needs\r\nCommunicate accurate and useful status updates\r\nEvaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software\r\nInvestigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions\r\nInstall, configure, and maintain personal computers and other related equipment, devices, and systems; add or upgrade and configure modems, disk drives, CD ROMs, printers, and related equipment\r\nAssist in troubleshooting network issues, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties\r\nDevelop and conduct various training and instruction for system users\r\nIdentify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations\r\nRequired Skills Desktop support experience\r\nStrong verbal and written communication skills\r\nExperience with inventory management\r\nState of Maine experience\r\nAbility to work in a team environment\r\nStrong communication skills; both written and spoken\r\nWork Environment / Physical Requirements Onsite 100% — candidates must be within a one-hour radius of Augusta, ME\r\nThis position requires routine travel within the Augusta area; individual must utilize their own vehicle when traveling between State of Maine office locations (mileage reimbursed)\r\nImportant Notes Candidates must be within a one-hour radius of Augusta, ME — no exceptions\r\nBackground check requirements: Standard Package B, Global ID, and MVR; candidates will also need to complete CJIS Fingerprinting and a Vehicle Use Agreement\r\nBenefits Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans\r\n401k Retirement Fund\r\nAbout the Client Augusta, ME-based company with 12,000+ employees and $12 billion in sales.
