Senior Accountant Consultant

Title: Senior Accountant Consultant Company: Biotechnology Industry Compensation: $50-60/hr (DOE)Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly and quarterly journal entries, including prepaids, fixed asset depreciation, capitalized software, and commercial and G&A accrualsPerform monthly account reconciliations across a variety of areas such as bank accounts, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, long-term assets, accrued contracts, and software capitalizationPartner with business leaders and functional teams to obtain contract details and project updates to ensure accurate and timely accrualsReview contracts and collaborate with stakeholders to properly account for capitalized software and fixed assetsConduct monthly and quarterly variance analysis for key accounts and projectsSupport monthly close processes, including preparation of trial balances and financial reportingReview invoice and purchase order coding for assigned departmentsPrepare and file property tax returns across multiple jurisdictions, along with ad hoc reportingEnsure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirementsAssist with financial audits and SOX reviews by preparing schedules and supporting documentationManage quarterly related party reporting, including analysis, journal entries, and documentation updatesOversee and review R&D reporting by location for tax and census purposesParticipate in special projects and provide ad hoc support to the Finance team as neededQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (or equivalent experience)5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including exposure to close processes, reconciliations, and accrualsStrong understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks within a public company environmentExperience within a publicly traded company and/or life sciences industry preferredProficiency with ERP systems; experience with NetSuite, BlackLine, Coupa, and Concur strongly preferredAdvanced Excel skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office toolsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionallyHigh level of attention to detail and strong analytical capabilitiesProven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentTeam-oriented mindset with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to broader team goalsVaco by Highspring values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.EEO Notice Vaco by Highspring is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race (including but not limited to traits historically associated with race such as hair texture and hair style), color, sex (includes pregnancy or related conditions), religion or creed, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, status as a veteran, union membership, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, or any other protected characteristics as required by federal, state or local law.Vaco by Highspring and its parents, affiliates, and subsidiaries are committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
