They also ensure high quality products are manufactured in a safe and efficient manner. The position will also maintain control of the manufacturing process. As a member of the production team, the Process Engineer provides daily operations support on a technical level while managing a portfolio of engineering projects and production equipment. The process engineer functions as the technical communicator between the operations and other functional departments of the company. Responsible for ensuring continuous improvement in all aspects of work performed.\n\nEssential Duties:\nEnsure oven and activation processes produce product to meet the requirements and standards of the manufacturing operation\nImprove or optimize machine and other process parameters to produce the highest quality product at the lowest cost\nMaintain effective collection systems for materials, production, and product data to facilitate engineering analysis\nEnsure key production metrics are being met and any problems or issues are promptly addressed\nAnalyze all information related to the operation and drive continuous improvement of product and process performance\nLead technical efforts to troubleshoot machine, tooling, and material issues\nWork independently or in conjunction with other organizational elements to analyze and drive corrective and preventive actions for issues\nAssist in the development of new products and processing parameters\nLead qualification efforts for new products, processes, or materials within the assigned operation\nEnsure that plant standard operations are properly documented, effective, and reflect best practices\nBuild process knowledge and continuous improvement gains into documentation and training systems\nEnsure manufacturing quality control plan is being followed and is effective\nEnsure non-conformance and quality issues are effectively resolved in a timely manner\nMonitor and troubleshoot production equipment\nFacilitate spare parts ordering, vendor communication, and drawing control\nPerform job and process hazard analysis, safety audits, etc.\nIdentify training needs impacting operational performance and verify that these are met\nAct as a technical communication link to other departments and organizations\nEffectively interact and collaborate with other departments including Development, Quality, Laboratory, Maintenance, etc.\nWork with vendors and contractors as required to achieve the objectives\nSupport operations and facility during off hours for process emergencies and technical support\nRequirements:\nAdditional Duties\nOther duties as assigned\nSpecial projects as assigned\nRequired Skills and Knowledge:\nB.S. in Ceramic, Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering or a related engineering or scientific field\nExcellent problem analysis and troubleshooting skills\nExcellent understanding of how to apply Process Control and Process Discipline concepts\nStrong organizational and work planning skills\nBasic knowledge of statistics as it relates to data analysis and process control of operations\nExperience with MS office products, especially the use of Excel applications for data analysis\nMechanical aptitude with hands on experience\nExcellent communication skills both orally and in writing\nAbility to work effectively independently and to multi-task\nPreferred Skills and Knowledge:\nTwo or more years’ experience in ceramic materials manufacturing or with materials preparation technology\nExperience with industrial kilns & ovens or chemical dipping processes\nUnderstanding of basic ceramic materials properties and their effects on materials preparation operations\nExperience in defining and conducting engineering experiments with multiple factors and responses\nDemonstrated experience with analyzing data and generating actions based on experimentation\nFamiliarity with MS Access, Minitab, SharePoint and MES.\nWorking Conditions:\nMechanical noise\nDusty and dirty work environment due to materials and raw materials\nVarying temperatures from warm to cool\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to lift push, pull, and carry 25 pounds occasionally\nStanding for extended periods of time\nWalking, stooping, bending, crouching, twisting, climbing, and kneeling frequently\nSitting at a computer frequently\nSalary:\n$70,000-$90,000 annually\nCormetech, Inc.is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
