Child Care Coaching Specialist

Position Summary: Provide coaching to providers and teachers caring for children ages three to twelve.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Work closely with specialists to identify training needs and arrange professional development training to address these needs.
· Promote, plan, and schedule coaching cycles with providers based on best practices to ensure quality programs.
· Present online or face to face training on approved curricula for the Tiered Reimbursement program.
· Provide support and coaching for providers obtaining Tier II status.
· Provide information and professional development to providers on curricula, assist interested providers with implementation and expand use of curricula by child care providers.
· Generate internal referrals to professional development team members as appropriate.
III. ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Participate in required meetings, including staff meetings, unit meetings and quarterly ECS meetings.
Participate in required committees and training as outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual.
Participate in practice observations for ECERS-3 and/or SACERS-U with peer annually.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

· Participate on the CCR&R professional development team and implement all professional development team responsibilities (Chapter 5).
Provide support and coaching for providers obtaining Tier II status.
· Obtain online or face to face training on approved curricula for the Tiered Reimbursement program which are Creative Curriculum for Preschool and HighScope Preschool in order to provide professional development, technical assistance, and coaching.
· Complete online training including ECERS-3 and SACERS-U one time.
· Participate in practice observation for ECERS-3 and/or SACERS-U with peer annually. Results of observations are not to be shared with the site. Inform the Early Childhood Coordinator of the date completed.
· All services are to be based upon Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP)
· Ensure all coaching is linked to West Virginia’s Core Knowledge and Competencies.
· Generate internal referrals to professional development team members as appropriate.
· Attend all quarterly Early Childhood Specialist meetings.
Education and Experience
· A master’s degree in early childhood, developmental psychology, educational psychology, or child development and 3-5 years of professional, paid, and documentation of working in a child care classroom. Experience with adult learning is preferred.
· A bachelor’s degree in early childhood, elementary education, special education, or child development. 3-5 years of professional, paid, and documented working in the early childhood classroom. Experience with adult learners and training preparation preferred.
· A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as adult education, with at least 15 college credit hours in early childhood and one-year of relevant occupational experience. CCR&R agencies must obtain approval from the Division of Early Care and Education prior to extending an employment offer to persons applying under option.

· Must be eligible to meet requirements of the STARS career pathway including becoming a STARS credentialed trainer.
· Able to travel extensively and work flexible hours.

Pay: $41,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
