We are scaling from 2 branches to 6+ across multiple states over the next 12 months and need a controller who can own our financial reporting and build the infrastructure to support that growth.\nWe are transitioning our accounting in-house and looking for someone who can take full ownership of our multi-entity books, ensure our financials tie to cash, and produce reporting that supports operational decision-making and lending applications.\nYou will:\n- Own month-end and quarter-end close across 5+ entities\n- Manage intercompany accounting — management fee allocations, gross profit transfers between entities, and consolidated eliminations\n- Produce P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements that tie to cash\n- Build lending packages for banks (normalized P&L with addbacks for non-recurring expansion costs)\n- Evaluate and lead migration to enterprise-level accounting software appropriate for multi-entity construction operations\n- Oversee a remote bookkeeper handling daily transaction entry\n- Establish SOPs for branch-level financial reporting, commission calculations, and AP/AR\n- Provide weekly financial updates to the CEO — bank balances, AR aging, credit positions, cash flow\nYou need:\n- 7+ years accounting experience, 3+ years as a controller or senior accountant\n- Direct experience with multi-entity structures (holding companies, C-Corps, intercompany transactions)\n- Strong QBO proficiency; experience with enterprise-level accounting platforms is a major plus\n- Construction or trades industry experience preferred\n- Ability to build financial models and lending packages\n- Experience managing remote bookkeeping staff\n- CPA preferred but not required\nThis is not:\n- A bookkeeping role — you oversee a bookkeeper\n- A tax prep role — separate tax advisor handles filings\n- A payroll role — separate payroll provider\nScreening Questions (Must be answered for consideration)\n1. Currently, we transfer cash to the branches only when a job is fully capped out, but this is too slow — branches need operating capital faster than jobs close.
