Receive emergency and nonemergency calls and reports, monitor video surveillance systems,and inform appropriate personnel according to District procedures. Relay information based on thenature and urgency of the situation and respond appropriately to situations.QualificationsEducation/CertificationHigh school diploma or GED, preferredValid Texas driver’s license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrierAdditional certifications in automated external defibrillator (AED), and cardiopulmonaryresuscitation (CPR) will be required and training provided by DistrictSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to receive and give verbal instructions clearly and effectively, by telephone and/or two-wayradio, in English and in Spanish, preferredAbility to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, make quick decisions, and apply established generalparameters to specific situationsAbility to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,and procedure manualsProficient map-reading skillsOperational knowledge of security system components, including closed-circuit television, keyless entry,motion sensors, fire sensors, and visitor identification systemProficient skills in general office functions, including basic computer operations. Skilled incustomer service principlesAbility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to haveschedule altered with little or no warningExperienceTwo years of public safety or dispatch operations experience, preferably in an educational environmentMajor Responsibilities And Duties Monitor and interpret incoming information from all security systems and take appropriate action.Job DescriptionSecurity Dispatcher Page 2 of 3 Monitor, answer, and respond to telephone calls and radio dispatch traffic. Make independent judgments in emergency situations. Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, departments, outside agencies, andOthers Who Require Notification. Manage crisis situations as needed and notify District personnel as outlined in the EmergencyOperations and Crisis Management Plan. Monitor appropriate systems to ensure facilities are properly and adequately secured; report damage,unlocked doors and windows, and any unusual incidents. Check out and check in District-issued vehicles nightly and on weekends.Reports and Records Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages in accordance with District standards and federal,state, and local requirements. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required. Maintain and submit all requested security records, schedules, and logs in a timely manner.Other Maintain confidentiality of information. Establish and maintain a professional rapport with resource officers and staff; exhibit behavior that isprofessional, ethical, and responsible; and maintain professional standards of conduct with students,personnel, parents, and visitors. Respond in a timely manner when contacted regarding urgent situations or emergencies (during oroutside of normal business hours).
