The Assistant Controller supervises, evaluates, and improves the functions of the Accounting Department including Financial Reporting, General Ledger, Cost Accounting, and Accounting Operations.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\nOversee the Accounting Department and function as a co-pilot to the Controller on accounting and financial matters.\nProvide in-depth support and PBC documents for annual external audit.\nSupport Controller on income and other tax filing requirements.\nConstantly and intuitively think about process improvements.\nAssist Controller to continue developing improvements in internal policies, procedures, and processes.\nLiaise with information systems and technologies team to implement new accounting software and ERP systems.\nExercise care and discretion to maintain high degree of confidentiality for financial data and sensitive information\nPerform account analysis, identify and investigate accounting irregularities/abnormalities and report to management.\nPrepare journal entries to accrue revenue and expenses or other items in accordance with GAAP and the accounting policies established by the company.\nPrepare, review, and audit internal payment requests to ensure accurate and proper documentation.\nReview state and local tax compliance filings and handle tax audits.\nAssist with month-end closing\nPerform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned, including ad hoc reports and analyses.\nMaintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in accounting.\nWork collaboratively with other finance and accounting personnel.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nManage and oversee the accounting team.\nDemonstrated success in leading, empowering, inspiring, and delegating effectively to others.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nStrong critical thinking skills and understanding of basic accounting concepts (e.g. debits and credits)\nHigh-level knowledge of US GAAP\nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel\nStrong critical thinking skills and understanding of accounting concepts (e.g. debits and credits)\nStrong competence in writing memos and emails clearly and on point\nComfortable preparing, delivering reports to management, both in writing and verbally\nEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and minimum 5 years of full-time managerial experience in an accounting leadership role. CPA title is preferred but not required.\nCOMPUTER SKILLS\nMust be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CRM and have experience with other analytical software tools. Knowledge of AS400 system strongly preferred.\nCOMMMUNICATION SKILLS\nAbility to comprehend complex written materials. Ability to develop training materials. Ability to clearly express ideas and establish an interactive learning environment. Ability to speak effectively before groups (executives, employees, customers and agents).\nREASONING ABILITY\nAbility to resolve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished verbally or in written form. Strong problem solving and skills with ability to identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
