Job Title: Student Accounts AssistantReports to: Executive Assistant to PresidentDepartment: Bursar - Student AccountsLocation: San Diego CampusCompensation: $20 - $25 per hour; Contractor (1099)Position SummaryThe Student Accounts Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Student Accounts Office, providing front-line service to students and families regarding tuition payments, billing, and account questions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, student-focused environment. The Student Accounts Assistant supports collaboration across related departments, including Financial Aid and the Registrar’s Office.ResponsibilitiesProvide in-person, phone, and email support to students and families regarding tuition, fees, payments, and account balancesAssist students with navigating online tools such as the Student Portal and promote self-service accessProcess and post student payments accurately and maintain up-to-date records in the student information systemSupport billing adjustments, stipend preparation, and daily reconciliation tasks under directionMonitor and respond to general inquiries related to student accounts in a timely and professional mannerAssist in preparing and sending account notices, reminders, and balance notificationsHelp maintain organized student account files and ensure compliance with confidentiality standardsSchedule appointments, organize communications, and perform other administrative tasks as neededParticipate in events such as Orientation, Registration Days, and other school functions when appropriatePerform additional duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the Student Accounts OfficeQualificationsAssociate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred1–2 years of customer service or administrative support experience, preferably in a higher education or student services settingStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to learn new systems and processes quickly and efficientlyDetail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and WordFamiliarity with student information systems (CampusVue experience is a plus)Positive attitude and ability to work well with students, families, and colleagues in a diverse environment
