Senior Director Finance

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSTION:This is a regular, exempt, hybrid full-time position at our New Haven, Connecticut facility.The Financial Controller is a highly organized, self-motivated, and experienced individual to support the global operations, with a particular focus on the company’s day-to-day financial and payroll activities along with its short and long-term financial planning.This position will be responsible for overseeing and performing the company’s day-to-day financial and administrative activities along with short and long-term financial planning. In addition, this position will be a key participant and, in certain cases, lead the development of sales proposals and quotations. This is a highly collaborative role, and this position is expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Financial Account Management:Oversee and serve as backup for the company accounting team. Perform accounting setup and ongoing day-to-day bookkeeping services such as:Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, and Customer Invoicing. Services include but are not limited to receiving, recording, processing, and verifying transactions.Reconcile the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgersManage income and expenditure accounts, and completing analysis of expendituresProduce a variety of reports including income statements and balance sheetsReview for accuracy reports, figures, and postingsReconcile and report any discrepancies found in the recordsPayroll:Oversee and serve as backup to the accounting team:The preparation, entry, and validation of payroll data using payroll provider’s online system to produce accurate and timely payrollPrepare and enter payroll journal entriesProcess and issue W-2 forms to employeesProcess State, Federal, and other earnings-related filing and reporting requirementsFinancial Analysis:Develop financial plans, forecasts, and budgetMonitor cash flow and alert senior management to projected cash flow issuesRun short and long-term analysis, trends, and forecastingMake recommendations to company leadershipTax Management and Company Business Structure:Ensure the filing and remittance of taxes and other financial obligationsOversee financial activities, ensure financial and regulatory compliance, and prepare consolidated financial statements of our subsidiary company(ies)Sales and Proposal Development:Work with XingImaging leadership to develop new business and expand existing business through proposal, budgeting, and contracting processGeneral:Act as a key advisor to department heads, guiding budget management and ensuring operational initiatives align with fiscal objectives.Collaborate with accounting, payroll, and other service providers on a regular basis as part of day-to-day, monthly, annual, and event-driven activities including annual fiscal reporting and auditsPartner with the executive team to shape company goals, drive long-term financial and strategic planning, and translate various data into actionable strategies.Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance organization; foster a culture of continuous development and accountability.Recommend and ensure sufficient controls and monitoring are in place that meet required accounting standards and regulatory requirementsParticipation in vendor evaluation and selectionOther duties as assigned by supervisorQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Required:Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline; advanced degree preferredCPA Required7 years of experience with or knowledge of US accounting principles such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including the recording and measurement of business or financial transactions in any field of practice.Experience in Clinical Research, Healthcare, and or Life Sciences IndustriesExperience with China and UK / International accounting principles preferredExperience with QuickBooks OnlineStrong interpersonal and people management skills; ability to work productively both independently and as part of team, and the ability to cultivate strong relationships with individuals of varied backgroundsDemonstrated experience with fast-paced team environment; comfort with ambiguity and flexible about changing dynamics and prioritiesStrong competencies for and/or direct experience managing staff members.PLEASE NOTE:Please note that since this is position is at least partially onsite, in the case of epidemic or other health crisis, employee must be willing to take reasonable steps to ensure that bacterial and viral infections are not spread to others including but not limited to temperature checks, vaccinations, exclusion from the office building, and other precautions as required by the building’s landlord.
