Prefer 3 years of experience in this setting. Candidates must be comfortable with Neonatal Resuscitation Program at delivery. Description: The position is in a Family Birthing Center focusing on labor and delivery. The unit has 2 labor and delivery rooms, 7 labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum beds, and an OR suite for C-sections. There is a NICU with 2 beds for newborn stabilization. The unit averages 70-80 births a month and performs non-stress tests averaging 60-70 a month. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:2 in labor and 1:1 at delivery. In the postpartum phase, the nurse will manage 1:4 mother/baby couplets. Candidates should expect to titrate specific medications, including pitocin and occasionally insulin. There is an OB/Neonatologist in-house 24/7. Anesthesia is on-call and not in-house 24/7, with a 20-minute response time. Respiratory therapy attends every delivery and assists with respiratory support and equipment. There are no CNAs in the unit; an OB Tech is scheduled each shift. Nurses are required to have Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification, as they will be involved in emergency situations. Charting is done using a specific electronic health record system. Weekend shift requirements include 2 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Holiday requirements involve rotating shifts with core staff. Floating may occur to other facilities as needed.
