You will work directly with senior leadership and manage the relationships with our fund administrator, auditors, tax advisors, and other service providers.The work is a mix of hands-on execution and build-out: closing the books accurately every month, and at the same time designing the processes that let us onboard the next manager and launch the next fund without re-inventing anything.What you'll own:Accounting and financial controlDay-to-day accounting operations: general ledger, AP, expense management, accruals, reconciliations, and cashMonthly, quarterly, and annual closeInternal controls, accounting policies, and documented proceduresBudgeting, forecasting, and management reportingFund accounting and reportingReview of administrator deliverables: NAV calculations, capital account statements, investor allocations, and financial statementsFund-level expenses, management fees, and incentive allocationsInvestor reporting and capital activityPreparation and review of annual audited financialsAudit, tax, and regulatoryPrimary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and the administratorAnnual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting supportDocumentation supporting accounting judgments and reconciliationsPlatform build-outNew fund launches, manager onboarding, and new managed account structuresSystem implementations and workflow automationScalable controls that hold as the platform adds strategies and entitiesWhat we're looking for:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field5+ years of relevant experience across hedge funds, alternative asset management, fund administration, or public accounting (alternatives-focused)Working knowledge of GAAP, fund financial statement preparation, capital accounts, and investment products across asset classesDirect experience managing or reviewing the work of a third-party fund administratorStrong Excel and comfort learning new accounting and reporting systemsSound judgment, clear written communication, and the ability to explain a number to someone who isn't an accountantComfort operating without a large team behind you, in a firm where processes are still being builtPreferred:CPAExperience with SS&C fund administration (GlobeOp / Advent platforms), either as an administrator or on the client sidePrior title of Controller, Assistant Controller, Fund Controller, or Fund Accounting Manager within alternativesMulti-manager platform, managed account, or master-feeder experienceManagement company accounting in addition to fund accountingTrack record of improving a close process, implementing a system, or standing up controls from scratchWhy this role?The Controller will have direct exposure to firm leadership, investment teams, and every external partner in the platform's finance stack.
