Lightsource bp was fully acquired by bp in 2024, strengthening our ability to scale renewable energy globally.\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nLightsource bp is seeking a Director, Procurement (Americas) to lead strategic procurement efforts supporting the deployment of utility‑scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar projects across the United States.\n\nThis leadership role will partner closely with development, engineering, construction, finance, legal, and executive leadership to secure critical equipment and services, manage supplier relationships, and drive procurement strategies that safeguard project delivery and commercial performance.\n\nThe successful candidate will bring deep expertise in renewable energy procurement, global supply chains, and complex equipment negotiations, particularly within the rapidly growing BESS market.\n\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nStrategic Procurement Leadership\n\nDevelop and execute procurement strategies that optimize pricing, delivery, quality, and risk mitigation across large-scale renewable energy projects.\nLead procurement initiatives supporting Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) while also supporting solar (PV) and emerging energy infrastructure projects.\nDrive category strategies and market intelligence to navigate global supply chain dynamics, policy changes, and geopolitical risks.\n\nSupplier & Contract Management\n\nLead RFP processes, supplier evaluations, and commercial negotiations for critical project equipment and services.\nNegotiate complex contracts for battery storage systems, PV equipment, high‑voltage components, and related infrastructure.\nBuild and manage strategic relationships with global suppliers and manufacturers.\n\nCross‑Functional Collaboration\n\nPartner with internal teams including development, engineering, finance, legal, insurance, power marketing, and construction to support project execution.\nAssist with financial close processes and external diligence related to procurement scopes.\nFacilitate execution of NDAs, Letters of Intent, and commercial agreements with key counterparties.\n\nProject & Supply Chain Oversight\n\nMonitor equipment procurement schedules and coordinate delivery to project sites.\nSupport safe harbor equipment procurement strategies related to ITC/PTC qualification.\nWork closely with HSQE and compliance teams to evaluate suppliers and ensure safe, quality project execution.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\nKnowledge\n\nRenewable energy procurement with experience in global sourcing and international supplier negotiations\nDeep knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) technologies and procurement strategies\nStrong understanding of PV equipment including modules, inverters, trackers, racking systems, and HV equipment\nExperience with market intelligence, category strategy, and supply chain risk analysis\nFamiliarity with international logistics and import/export requirements\n\nExperience with datacenter power solutions, natural gas turbines, or hybrid energy systems is a strong plus.\n\nSkills\n\nStrong commercial negotiation and contract management capabilities\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nAbility to build relationships across suppliers and internal stakeholders\nExperience managing procurement for technically complex equipment and infrastructure\nStrong organizational and project management skills\nAbility to work within a global, cross‑functional organization\n\nQualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in STEM, engineering, business, or related field\nMBA preferred\nProfessional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or CIPS preferred\nFluency in English required;
