This role provides day-to-day management, technical guidance, and career development for engineers working on embedded Linux systems, kernel development, user space applications, and related infrastructure. The US team focuses on technical architecture, product strategy, customer engagement, and cross-team coordination.\nHOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE\nIn your daily job you will:\nTeam Management\nManage a team of up to 40 engineers including Managers, MTS, SMTS, and Senior Engineers\nConduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and career development discussions\nFacilitate team meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives\nResolve conflicts and maintain team cohesion\nEnsure team members have necessary resources and support\nProvide mentorship to junior managers and technical leads\nTechnical Leadership\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to team members\nReview code, architecture decisions, and technical designs\nEnsure adherence to coding standards and best practices\nParticipate in technical discussions and problem-solving\nStay current with industry trends and technologies\nLead technical architecture and strategic planning initiatives\nHiring & Development\nParticipate in recruiting and hiring processes\nOnboard new team members and ensure smooth integration\nDevelop individual development plans for team members\nIdentify training needs and opportunities\nSupport career growth and advancement\nMentor senior engineers and technical leads\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field\n10+ years of engineering experience\n5+ years of engineering management experience including senior leadership roles\nExperience managing teams of 30+ engineers\nBackground in embedded systems, Linux, or systems software\nStrong understanding of embedded Linux systems\nExperience with Linux kernel development or user space applications\nKnowledge of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies\nFamiliarity with build systems, CI/CD, and development tools\nUnderstanding of code review processes and quality assurance\nExperience with technical architecture and strategic planning\nManagement Skills\nProven ability to lead and develop engineering teams\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills\nExperience with performance management and career development\nAbility to balance technical and business priorities\nProject management and resource allocation experience\nStrong customer engagement and stakeholder management skills\nExperience mentoring senior engineers and technical leads\nStrong public speaking and presentation abilities\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Yocto Project or similar embedded Linux frameworks\nOpen-source community involvement\nExperience in automotive, industrial, or networking industries\nCertification in agile methodologies (Scrum Master, etc.)\nExperience with distributed team management\nMaintainer or core contributor status in major open-source projects\nExtensive Yocto Project experience and leadership\nSignificant Linux kernel contributions and recognition\nExperience in safety-critical industries (aerospace, automotive, medical)\nKnowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262, DO-178C, etc.)\nOpen-source project governance experience\nIndustry recognition (awards, keynote speaking, etc.)\nPublished technical papers or articles on open-source topics\nKey Performance Indicators\nOpen-source contribution quality and impact\nCommunity engagement and relationship building\nStrategic open-source project participation\nUpstream contribution acceptance rate\nConference presentations and speaking engagements\nMentoring and development of open-source contributors\nOpen-source strategy execution\nIndustry recognition and thought leadership\nKey Performance Indicators\nTeam retention rate (target: 85%+)\nTeam productivity and sprint velocity\nCode quality metrics\nOnboarding time to productivity\nEmployee satisfaction and engagement scores\nProject delivery on time and within budget\nCustomer satisfaction and engagement\nCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis - without requirement for any type of visa sponsorship/transfer, now, or at any time in future.
