{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"34db6ffe05bc4e558b504b11","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/34db6ffe05bc4e558b504b11","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/34db6ffe05bc4e558b504b11","title":"Building Engineer","description":"The Building Engineer I is responsible for maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, focusing on performing routine maintenance tasks, responding to tenant requests, and ensuring systems operate safely under the guidance of senior engineers.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\n\nPerform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections of building systems; address service requests, including hot/cold calls, plumbing issues, and lighting repairs.\n\nTroubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions and elevate issues as required.\n\nReplace light fixtures, filters, and other components as needed.\n\nMaintain accurate records of inspections and equipment performance.\n\nInteract with tenants, contractors, and property managers and work closely with senior engineers and technicians to support smooth building operations and resolve tenant issues.\n\nAssist with preventive maintenance tasks and contractor oversight.\n\nConduct property inspections to identify deficiencies.\n\nRecord equipment readings and ensure assigned building systems operate according to standards.\n\nFollow company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations; report safety hazards; participate in safety inspections.\n\nProvide guidance to junior technicians when needed.\n\nCommunicate verbally and in writing with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees in a professional manner, keeping the appropriate customer(s) informed/updated as needed.\n\nWork closely with senior engineers to develop technical skills and participate in professional development programs to grow into advanced roles.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications\n\nHS Diploma or GED required.\n\nTwo to three years of related experience or commensurate certification or trade experience.\n\nCFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain as requested; possess required engineering and trade licenses according to local, state, or national requirements.\n\nBasic working knowledge of laptop and phone applications for work order and facility operation systems and basic Microsoft Outlook skills.\n\nFamiliar with fire/life safety equipment and procedures.\n\nProven track record for delivering excellent internal and external customer service; ability to interact/communicate effectively with tenants, vendors, contractors, teammates, and leadership.\n\nFamiliarity with blueprints and code requirements.\n\nAbility to work after hours, weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations as necessary to meet client needs.\n\nPossess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools.\n\nAbility to read and write English to understand manuals, procedures, and to write reports.\n\nWillingness to develop familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems and gain experience with BAS operation and troubleshooting.\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds; perform physically demanding tasks such as stooping, crouching, and kneeling.\n\nCandidate Accommodations\nLPC provides reasonable accommodations in job application procedures for individuals with disabilities.
