From locomotives, transit, freight cars and engines, to tracks, signals and advanced technology, we ensure customers can count on us to meet their needs.\nLearn how we keep our customers rolling by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, and by visiting progressrail.com.\n\nKey Job Elements\nDevelop electrical circuits and systems, including schematic and application drawings, for locomotive application, to meet customer requirements and design specifications;\nProvide support to manufacturing (not to exceed 10% of available time) for questions / corrections / modification related to locomotive electrical applications, resolve issues, and produce the appropriate design change documentation;\nAnalyze and interpret locomotive customer and engineering specifications to develop required electrical schematic and electrical applications;\nManage, coordinate, and clearly communicate the status of all electrical application deliverables per customer order and manufacturing schedule;\nConduct design reviews, as required, for all phases of electrical application development;\nClearly and accurately produce all necessary documentation of electrical designs as required by Manufacturing and Product Design;\nStay current with new electrical technology for potential i locomotive electrical system design;\nOrganize workload in order to provide updates and status reports in a timely manner;\nPerform basic electrical design tasks including (but not limited to) circuit development, component selection, cable sizing, load analysis, BOM development, electrical load management, connection and interconnection design, and application development / design;\nTravel as required.\n\nEducation / Training\nBSEE degree (or equivalent) required;\nAdvanced engineering degree (preferred);\nSix Sigma training (preferred);\nProject Management training (preferred).\n\nQualifications and Experience\n5 -7 years of experience in developing / designing vehicle based electrical systems;\nAbility to read and understand locomotive electrical schematics and application drawings;\nUnderstanding of and previous experience with electrical schematic development within a computer graphics system;\nFull understanding of circuit development within a physical schematic;\nAbove average electrical troubleshooting skill;\nBasic understanding of Locomotive subsystems as they pertain to electrical development;\nUnderstanding of electrical design in regard to Locomotive subsystems;\nBasic understanding of locomotive general arrangement and equipment;\nGood oral and written communication skills;\nMedium level of analytical ability where problems are somewhat complex;\nAbility to work independently yet consistently execute to job schedules and milestone dates.\nTraining / experience in electrical controls including machines, controls, and power systems;\nExperience with computer aided electrical schematic generation;\nProficiency and experience with computer applications including MS–Office suite;\nExperience utilizing SAP (or equivalent) for parts usage and BOM determination;\nExperience with UG or other mechanical CAD applications.\n\nEssential and Physical Activities Functions\n\nStrength – Position typically involves work in an office environment with occasional visits to an industrial environment.
