Integrate various software components from third parties, or those developed in-house, into an operating system image whose feature set meets a wide variety of customer needs. Experience with operating system hardware abstraction layer development is a plus.\n\nJob Duties and Responsibilities\nUses industry-standard development and build tools to integrate various software components from various third parties, or those developed in-house into an operating system image whose feature set meets a wide variety of customer needs.\nDevelops utility and value-added features for inclusion in an operating system image.\nReads schematics to understand the logic, power and voltage capabilities of the electronics that power Juniper Systems products.\nTroubleshoots various aspects of the operating system or third-party programs as anomalies are discovered.\nFamiliarity with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters and other equipment to debug and understand proper electronic functionality.\nMaintain knowledge of current operating system technologies as well as other industry advancements in components that are part of our line of ultra-rugged handheld computers.\nWorks with product managers to define and refine product specifications to meet customer needs within technical limitations.\nUses product specifications to create a software design that shows details of how the software will be built to meet the requirements.\nWrites code based on the software design.\nIntegrates and tests code.\nVerifies that software meets customer requirements.\nSupports the sales team and customers in understanding the software, resolving problems, and adding enhancements.\n\nSkills, Knowledge, and Experience\nBachelor of Science degree in the discipline of the job and 3 years’ experience OR an equivalent combination of schooling and experience.\nObject oriented software development using various programming languages such as\nC++, C#, Java and other programming languages within various frameworks in multiple operating systems.\n\nResponsibility, Accountability, and Supervisory Responsibilities\nMay have supervisory responsibility and this individual may occasionally be in charge of a project or activity in which he or she is accountable for the work of other employees or may occasionally have responsibility for other outcomes including product design or project execution. Normally this will be within his or her own department. A supervisor will assign his or her duties to be completed, but this individual will be able to set his or her own schedule.\n\nCommunication, Negotiation, and Networking Skills\nThe job requires written and verbal communication skills on the level of a college graduate (including spelling). Requires the ability to network effectively within and outside the company. Requires communication skills which enable the writing of general communication documents for internal and external purposes. Requires some skill in negotiating with other personnel and with other firms.\n\nWorking Conditions\nPhysical Demands:\nThis position requires sitting for extended periods of time and use of hands. Requires the ability to see computer screens and other equipment.\nWorking Hours and Conditions:\nNormal is 40 hours per week. May require more than 40 hours a week depending on projects. Monday thru Friday, normal time off for Holidays. Optional 9 hours/day, 9 days in two weeks, Friday 8 hours, alternate Friday off.
