Materra works with industry partners to improve the way recycling centers process plastics using AI and robotics, to make recycling more affordable and scalable.\r\nAbout the role\r\nMaterra is looking for a Software Engineer with practical experience developing C++ systems that communicate with hardware sensors.\r\nOur team seeks to generate actionable insights from data from different sources, working directly with industry partners to provide immediate real-world impact.\r\nHow you will make 10X Impact\r\nDesign, implement, and improve performant C++ systems that process and organize data from multiple hardware sources\r\nDesign, implement, and improve algorithms for deriving insights on chemical data using a broad array of state-of-the-art deep learning methods\r\nRapidly develop system prototypes to evaluate feasibility\r\nStrong end-to-end ownership of the software infrastructure\r\nBuild scalable data pipelines for training AI\r\nWork effectively with cross-functional teams of engineers, scientists, and domain experts\r\nWork with collaborators across X and Alphabet (e.g., Google, DeepMind, Cloud, etc.) to apply, modify, and develop new ideas, techniques, algorithms, and tools as needed\r\nWhat you should have\r\nMS/PhD in Computer Science or demonstrable practical experience in the field\r\n3–5 years experience writing software that interacts with a variety of asynchronous hardware sensors\r\nExperience building data management platforms in C++\r\nExperience in a fast-paced environment\r\nKnowledge of deep learning model building, validation, and optimization\r\nExperience building and managing scalable data pipelines and backend integrations\r\nFluency with C++, Python, and Linux\r\nIt'd be great if you also had these\r\nExperience with Google Cloud Platform tools like Dataflow and VertexAI\r\nAn understanding of multispectral imaging and/or spectroscopy\r\nA passion for solving the problems of plastic waste and circular economy of materials\r\nThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000 – $244,000 + bonus, equity and benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
