This role will partner closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial insight, improve processes, and support the organization’s overall financial performance.Key ResponsibilitiesLead timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and close activities.Oversee preparation of financial statements, journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls.Lead and develop the accounting team, promoting accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.Oversee cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, fixed assets, gross margin analysis, and work-in-process reporting.Establish, maintain, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal financial controls.Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting and financial planning in partnership with business leaders.Analyze financial results, identify trends and opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational performance.Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support liquidity planning and working capital management.Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, ensuring effective processes, accurate records, and timely collections and payments.Manage banking relationships and contribute to initiatives designed to strengthen cash management and working capital.Provide financial analysis related to customer engagements, pricing decisions, projects, and contract profitability.Partner with operations, sales, purchasing, and project teams to provide meaningful financial analysis and decision support.Prepare financial reporting, management analysis, and commentary for senior leadership and other stakeholders.Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, financial institutions, and other outside advisors as required.Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, reporting capabilities, accounting processes, and controls.Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.Perform hands-on accounting activities as needed to support the finance function and business requirements.Qualifications & SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; CPA or comparable professional certification preferred.7–12 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, ideally within a manufacturing, industrial, or similarly operational environment.Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP; exposure to international accounting standards is an asset.Demonstrated experience with financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business recommendations.Proven ability to lead, develop, and collaborate effectively with accounting and cross-functional teams.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with ERP and financial management systems.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.Demonstrated integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and business information.Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to balance strategic responsibilities with day-to-day accounting needs.","company":"Robert Half","rawCompany":"robert half","city":"Temperance","state":"MI","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-08-15T09:41:22.425Z","occupations":[{"code":"11-3031.01","title":"Treasurers and Controllers","slug":"treasurers-and-controllers"},{"code":"13-2011.00","title":"Accountants and Auditors","slug":"accountants-and-auditors"},{"code":"11-3031.00","title":"Financial Managers","slug":"financial-managers"}],"industries":[{"code":"541219","title":"Other Accounting Services","slug":"other-accounting-services"},{"code":"551114","title":"Corporate, Subsidiary, and Regional Managing Offices","slug":"corporate-subsidiary-and-regional-managing-offices"},{"code":"541211","title":"Offices of Certified Public Accountants","slug":"offices-of-certified-public-accountants"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Controller","description":"The Controller will oversee the organization’s accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and effective support for business decision-making.
