Preconstruction Manager - Project Management
WHY DO WE NEED YOU?The Preconstruction Manager manages a full Project Management team overseeing project managers and their processes. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a background in a high project volume role with strong managerial experience.This position is responsible for planning, budgeting, overseeing, and documenting all aspects of projects in the portfolio. Additional duties include overseeing resources critical to successful construction lifecycle implementation, execution, and fulfillment with a clear vision to digital construction technology connecting CertainTeed with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and distributors.The Preconstruction Manager role reports directly to the Director of Preconstruction, Metal & Felt and serves as a member of the Metal & Felt Preconstruction Services Leadership Team. The position has overall responsibility for directing a unified Customer Solutions strategy centrally and across assigned sites in the areas of project estimating, product design and project management.Essential Functions Of The JobEnsure projects, departmental milestones and goals are met while adhering to internal processes and pricing modelsEstablish and maintain relationships with customers across varying industriesMust understand major domestic construction life cycles as well as division subcontractorsPrevious experience in a production or manufacturing role is heavily preferredManage time and cost of project portfolio based on budget for area of scopeContribute to defining overall vision for staffing requirements/roles within the departmentParticipate in Business Development pursuits and presentations.Ensure policies and procedures are followed by staffDirect management of all project manager reports (10)Manages project activities from purchase to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, payments and logisticsValidates project plans and scheduling to incorporate any changes by customersCommunicate and reinforce both in writing and verbally the goals of the organization by providing input on Key Performance IndicatorsInforms project status, scheduling and key customer issues to site management on a regular basisDemonstrates high level of leadership/interpersonal skills fostering good customer/Company relationships, service, and engagementMonitor inventory levels against order volumes; make recommendations for re-order to prevent schedule delaysResponsible for driving excellence and performance within Customer Solutions through focus on standardized operating procedures and processes including the implementation/use of Company ERP systemManages staff in the day-to-day performance of jobs including working with cross-functional teams to ensure product delivers on time and per customer parameters according to pricing modelsMentor, lead, and coach direct reports, Customer Solutions Team, through timely one-on-one feedback, regular performance reviews and IDPsWork with team on achieving work objectives and improving performance and skillsIS THIS JOB FOR YOU?Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Architectural or related RequiredPreferredMaster’s Degree Master of Business Administration Preferred8+ years Project Mgmt / Pre-Construction Svcs Required5+ years Management experience RequiredProven track record in project management methodologies for the construction environmentSkilled at leading and directing a team of direct reports AND able to lead and influence across functions without direct reporting relationships. Creates an environment where the team cultivates their abilities, providing leadership and guidance, and inspiring them to advance business objectivesAbility to read and understand manufacturing drawings/architectural drawings/project specificationsOutstanding presentation and communication skills, with the ability to express ideas clearly and create compelling content to engage diverse audiences.
