This role validates that a Pega-based solution supporting PPBE, budget, acquisition, reporting, workflow, and auditability requirements performs as intended and meets business and operational needs. The Functional Test Engineer works closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, business analysts, Pega engineers, data/integration resources, QA automation/performance testers, and Government stakeholders to develop test scenarios, execute test cases, document results, support UAT, and drive timely defect resolution.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nDevelop, maintain, and execute functional test plans, test cases, test scripts, test scenarios, and test execution documentation.\nValidate application functionality against requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, workflow designs, and solution specifications.\nPerform system, functional, end-to-end, regression, integration-support, and user acceptance testing activities.\nSupport testing for PPBE, budget formulation, budget execution, acquisition workflows, reporting, approvals, user roles, data handling, and auditability features.\nCollaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, business analysts, and stakeholders to confirm test scope, business scenarios, acceptance conditions, and expected outcomes.\nCoordinate with Pega engineers and data/integration resources to clarify functional behavior, data flows, interface impacts, and defect remediation needs.\nLog, classify, track, retest, and validate defects using approved defect management and Agile tools.\nSupport UAT planning and readiness reviews, including test scenario preparation, user guidance, issue triage, status reporting, and acceptance sign-off support.\nMaintain traceability between requirements, user stories, test cases, defects, and test results.\nParticipate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint demonstrations, release readiness reviews, and defect triage meetings.\nPrepare test execution reports, defect summaries, status updates, and testing inputs for program reporting.\nSupport regression validation for configuration changes, production fixes, minor enhancements, and release candidates.\nWork with QA automation, performance, and 508 resources to coordinate functional coverage across broader quality assurance activities.\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:\n4+ years of progressive experience in functional testing, system testing, UAT support, regression testing, or software quality assurance.\nExperience developing and executing test cases, test scripts, test scenarios, test data, and test execution reports.\nPractical understanding of requirements traceability, acceptance criteria, defect management, retesting, regression testing, and test status reporting.\nExperience testing enterprise applications, SaaS platforms, workflow systems, case management systems, or business process applications.\nFamiliarity with Agile delivery environments, sprint testing, backlog refinement, sprint demonstrations, and release readiness activities.\nExperience using testing and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, SharePoint, or similar platforms.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.\nAbility to understand business workflows, user roles, data inputs, expected outputs, and edge cases.\nAbility to work effectively with developers, analysts, testers, Product Owners, and Government stakeholders.\nDetail-oriented approach to validating system behavior and documenting test outcomes.\nKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:\nExposure to Federal, state, health, financial, or other regulated IT delivery environments is beneficial; Department of Veterans Affairs experience is a plus but not required.\nFamiliarity with SaaS platforms, workflow applications, case management systems, low-code/no-code platforms, or Pega applications is valued.\nExperience testing financial management, acquisition, budget, reporting, user access, workflow, or enterprise business applications is a plus.\nWorking knowledge of UAT coordination, regression testing, data validation, API testing, accessibility testing, or release readiness is beneficial.\nRelevant testing, Agile, quality assurance, business analysis, or platform certifications are preferred, but not required.\nEDUCATION:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.\nCLEARANCE:\nMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.\nWORK LOCATION:\nRemote\nAs part of the application process, you are expected to be on camera during interviews and assessments.
