The role will be responsible for a wide variety of telecommunications platforms.\r\nCandidate must be local to the DMV and able to work onsite.\r\nResponsibilities May Include The Following: Manage the configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and deployment of Cisco networking equipment, to include Cisco integrated services routers, Cisco aggregation services routers, and Cisco switches.\r\nPlan, configure, test, and implement new network architecture elements associated with LAN/WAN expansion and existing customer base augmentation.\r\nProvide configuration and administration support for data center assets.\r\nManage inventory control documents and life cycle maintenance schedules associated with operational equipment.\r\nProvide administration, maintenance, operations, and customer support to Microsoft Windows workstations, VOIP phone, and video teleconferencing (VTC) equipment.\r\nReceive, transport, load, and configure communications security (COMSEC) keying material for secure communications equipment.\r\nProvide feedback and guidance in developing solutions to unique mission requirements involving replacement, upgrades, and augmentations to existing communications capabilities.\r\nDocument standard operating procedures, routine tasks, updates to systems information in manuals, diagrams, reports, and flow charts.\r\nAssist directly in logistics operations pertaining to acquisition, receipt, relocation, and deployment of equipment.\r\nThe Ideal Candidate Will Meet Most The Following Criteria: Firm grasp of IP routing and switching technologies with special emphasis on carrier ethernet architecture, 802.1 Q-in-Q switching, and multiprotocol label switching/dense wavelength division multiplexing (MPLS/DWDM) transport capabilities.\r\nFirm understanding of OSPF routing propagation and spanning-tree switching technology.\r\nFirm understanding of network protocols such as ICMP, IGP, BGP, FTP, SSH, DNS, SRTP, SIP, and DHCP.\r\nUnderstanding of authentication technologies such as RADIUS and TACACS+\r\nFamiliar with Windows 10, Windows Server 2019, Windows active directory, and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).\r\nKnowledge of site design and equipment integration based on established deployment operating procedures and requirements.\r\nKnowledge of generally accepted standards pertaining to technical writing/documentation associated with operational requirements documents, standard operating procedures, and quick reference guides.\r\nKnowledge of administration of ESXi hosts and VMware virtual environments.\r\nExperience in troubleshooting complex communications problems using specialized testing equipment such as spectrum analyzers, optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR), bit error rate testers, network traffic analyzers, and packet inspection equipment.\r\nKnowledge of general principles of electrical circuits, fabricating and splicing of electrical connectors, and testing electronic equipment using digital multimeters.\r\nUnderstanding of solutions procurement process to include assessment of alternatives, requirements analysis, budget restrictions, and implementation constraints.\r\nQualifications: Available for travel within the continental United States for periods of time up to two weeks in support of mission activities.\r\nPossesses an active TOP SECRET/SCI clearance and possesses eligibility requirements to access classified information.\r\nRequired certifications: CCNA must be obtained within 120 days of start date.\r\nMust possess excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to articulate complex mission information to members of U.S. Government's leadership.\r\nBe capable of establishing and cultivating friendly relationships with partner agency personnel, third party equipment providers, and sibling programs internal to FEMA.\r\nMust be self-sufficient and capable of maintaining required operational tempo when working autonomously or with minimal supervision.\r\nWork location will be Bluemont, VA with limited travel to Washington, D.C. and offices in the DMV area.
