Manual Machinist
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to produce precision components essential for hydraulic and pneumatic systems. In this role, you will set up and operate manual lathes, ensuring parts meet stringent specifications. Your expertise will contribute directly to the quality and reliability of our products.
Responsibilities
Operate manual lathes to machine cylinder components, interpreting blueprints and work instructions to achieve precise results.
Apply mathematical principles and precision measuring instruments to calculate dimensions, tolerances, and machining parameters.
Utilize various machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders, to machine parts to exact specifications.
Conduct in-process inspections to verify accuracy, identify defects, and uphold consistent quality throughout the machining process.
Maintain equipment functionality through preventive maintenance, including monitoring oil levels and lubrication schedules.
Uphold a clean and organized work environment to promote safety, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.
Qualifications
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent, coupled with one to five years of experience in a job-shop environment.
Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting technical drawings.
Expertise in using micrometers to achieve close tolerances and desired surface finishes.
Strong knowledge of machining various materials, including cold rolled steel, bronze, cast iron, and aluminum.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with 3 and 4 jaw chucks for versatile machining setups.
Experience with OD and ID threading techniques.
Ability to handle diverse types and sizes of tie rods, tubes, and rods.
