Engineering Manager Electrical Design

Job Description Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead electrical design and virtual construction efforts across large-scale commercial and industrial projects. This role is responsible for managing design teams, driving preconstruction coordination, and ensuring high-quality, code-compliant electrical systems.Projects range from $1M to $400M and include Design-Build, Plans & Specs, and Design Assist delivery across sectors such as mission critical, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution, multifamily, and hospitality.What You'll DoLead Projects & TeamsManage multiple projects during preconstruction, overseeing Design Engineers and Virtual Design staffDrive timelines, coordination, and deliverables across all assigned workOwn Technical Design QualityReview and perform electrical calculations (load, voltage drop, short circuit, lighting)Ensure all designs meet NEC and applicable building codesDevelop & Mentor TalentLead, coach, and develop a team of design professionalsSupport onboarding, training, and continuous improvement initiativesDrive Cross-Functional CoordinationPartner with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clientsParticipate in project meetings and provide technical leadershipOversee Documentation & DrawingsReview contracts, BIM execution plans, and specificationsEnsure accurate development of coordination and installation drawingsDeliver Practical Design SolutionsSupport design for power distribution, site systems, underground, and temporary powerIdentify cost savings and value engineering opportunitiesWhat You Bring Experience5+ years of electrical design or virtual construction experience (Revit or similar required)10+ years of overall electrical industry experience preferredPrior leadership or supervisory experience within an electrical contractor environment preferredTechnical KnowledgeStrong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)Familiarity with IBC, IECC, and life safety codesProficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction CloudCore SkillsStrong leadership and organizational abilityAble to manage multiple priorities with minimal oversightClear communicator across technical and non-technical teamsAbility to review plans/specs and recommend cost-effective solutionsAdditional Details Ability to travel as neededExperience supporting large, complex construction projects preferredAt Delectus, we pursue excellence in all we do.
