Teaching may include a variety of formats: face-to-face, remote and online. The teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantees of continued employment.\n\nDuties and Tasks:\nProvide hands-on, guided, differentiated instructions to students enrolled in the courses, as specified in the schedule and course contract.\nPrepare course materials and lesson plans.\nConduct efficient and effective classroom management.\nProvide students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the institution, assignments and deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria.\nUse the institution's learning management system to post syllabus, assignments, and other materials and to communicate with students, in a timely manner.\nDeliver course content using a variety of teaching styles and provide interesting and engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.\nMaintain records of enrollment and attendance, assessments and grades, and submit class rosters and grade sheets by the deadlines established by the department.\nMaintains a hazard free environment and practices safety in lab(s) or classroom.\nAdhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with college and departmental policies, procedures, and regulations.\nAs a part of the primary responsibility to provide quality instruction, the College expects each faculty member to meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; and adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations.\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nKSAs: National Electrical Code (NEC) - Working knowledge of NEC standards, code compliance, and local electrical regulations related to installation, grounding, and protection.\nBlueprints and Schematics - Ability to read, interpret, and explain electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and one-line schematics.\nSafety Procedures and Compliance - Understanding of OSHA 10/30 safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements specific to electrical environments.\nHands-On Demonstration - Skill in demonstrating electrical techniques safely, including wiring, conduit bending, and circuit assembly.\nInstructional Delivery - Ability to teach hands-on technical content clearly and effectively to diverse learners.\nTroubleshooting and Diagnostics - Strong problem-solving skills for identifying and correcting mechanical and electrical faults.\nCurriculum Integration - Skill in aligning instructional content with industry standards and certification requirements.\nElectrical Components and Systems - In-depth familiarity with conductors, transformers, motors, panels, breakers, and control systems.\nRepresent NOVA Professionally - Ability to uphold institutional standards and positively represent NOVA Workforce in all instructional and industry settings.\nMinimum Work Experience: Prior teaching or training experience in the subject field/industry or must demonstrate evidence of teaching potential.\nPractical working experience in the subject field/industry and related industries.\nCombination of education and industry credentials to demonstrate content expertise applicable to the course being taught.\nBe familiar with subject area certification processes, guidelines, and procedures.\nWorking knowledge of computer applications and the ability to use computers for providing class presentation.\nAdditional Considerations:\n\nPractical working experience in the subject field/industry and related.\nExperience teaching \"boot camp\" style training course\nDemonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.\nExperience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.\nExperience working with adult learners.\n\nEach agency within the Commonwealth of Virginia is dedicated to recruiting, supporting, and maintaining a competent and diverse work force.
