In this role, you will participate in the architecting, design, development, testing, and deployment of new systems and applications in response to Iridium business and marketing needs. You will thrive in this role if you enjoy working and learning in a fast-paced environment where you can take your engineering career to the next level.\n\nWhat You’ll Do:\nContribute to the team that is responsible for the development of software for projects and services in the Iridium Gateway\nParticipate in meetings with vendors to incorporate their products and software into Iridium service solutions\nSupport the implementation, build and verification activities and help troubleshoot issues to resolution\nAssist with analyses to ensure designs meet technical performance targets\nConduct required gateway functional & performance analysis studies, interface definition, and detailed trade studies\nWork closely with Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) team to make sure products have been tested thoroughly\nWork with team members to ensure high quality products are ready to deploy into production according to assigned schedule\nIdentify and resolve operations issues and work closely with the Operations team to improve maintenance procedures and support troubleshooting efforts\nExperience & Education Requirements / EEO:\nWhat You’ll Need to Succeed:\nBachelor’s degree in a computer science or engineering discipline, with software coding coursework\nProficient with standard Microsoft Office/engineering tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\nBasic knowledge of knowledge of communications systems, voice and data communications, TCP/IP communications, and VoIP technologies\nStrong ability to code and draft sound, well-structured documents\nStrong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively\nCan cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you\nThe ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed\nAdaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you\nA motivation to achieve outcomes and results\nCapable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors\nAn eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others\n\nThings That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:\nProgramming languages such as C++, Python, Java, JavaScript\nDatabases: MySQL\nOperating Systems: Linux/Redhat\nProtocols: IP, SIP, TCP\nTelecom industry specs and architecture: 3GPP\nWorking knowledge of AWS development techniques\nWorking knowledge of networking protocols, routers, switches, etc.\nFamiliarity with tool suites such as Gitlab, Jira, R4J, and Confluence\nWorking knowledge of software development methodologies and lifecycles\nA good understanding of tools and software applications that support software engineering best practices.\n\nWe’ll also need you to:\nBe able to work in the office at least 3 days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders\nTo comply with U.S. Government export control regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), applicants for this position must be either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (specifically, refugees and those granted asylum status), or eligible to obtain the required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Department of Commerce.\n\nWork Environment:\nThis position primarily works in the company office or in a home office.
