OverviewJob Summary:The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is an execution-focused engineer embedded directly with business, product, and delivery teams to rapidly design, build, and validate high-impact solutions. This role bridges engineering, product, and business, turning problems into working software, pilots, and proofs of value.Focused on Connected, a multi-year strategic program focused on modernizing and digitizing Sales, Recruiting, and Marketing capabilities across Allegis Group and its operating companies. The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is a critical execution role within the Connected program, responsible for rapidly deploying technical solutions directly into business workflows to validate value, inform product investment, and accelerate adoption.The FDE operates at the intersection of AI, data, platforms, and user workflows, deploying solutions "forward" into real environments, validating outcomes quickly, and informing scale decisions. This role is critical to evidence first delivery, rapid experimentation, and accelerating enterprise adoption of new capabilities.ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:The Forward Deployed Engineer is responsible for:Rapidly translating business problems into working technical solutionsBuilding proofs-of-concept, and experiments that demonstrate measurable valueEmbedding with stakeholders (Product, Business, Ops, Data, UX) to co-design solutionsIterating quickly based on user feedback and real-world constraintsDeploying solutions into live or near-live environments to validate adoption, performance, and outcomesShaping architecture, integration patterns, and scalability paths for future productionalizationActing as a technical advisor to leadership on feasibility, tradeoffs, and scale readinessPartner directly with stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and success criteriaDesign and implement full-stack or system-level solutions across front-end, back-end, integrations, and data layersBuild AI-enabled or data-driven capabilities where appropriate (e.g., agents, automation, decision support)Integrate with enterprise platforms (Salesforce, APIs, data platforms, identity, messaging)Own end-to-end delivery from concept through deployment and measurementInstrument solutions to capture usage, performance, and business impactCommunicate outcomes clearly to technical and non-technical audiences Identify risks, constraints, and architectural implications earlyHand off validated solutions with clear documentation and recommendations for scaling or sunsetSupervisory or Management Responsibility:Technical leadership across cross-functional teamsMentoring engineers on rapid prototyping, experimentation, and pragmatic deliveryInfluencing design and delivery standards without direct authorityBudget Responsibility:Contributes to licensing projections and vendor assessmentsQualificationsMinimum Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and work experience8+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong backend heavy full stack engineering skills, with working proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React or similar)Experience building and deploying real-world solutions in production or near-production settingsStrong experience with TypeScript / JavaScript for backend services (Node.js preferred)Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance tradeoffsExperience integrating with SaaS platforms (Salesforce, Google, Snowflake)Comfort working with data, APIs, and automation pipelinesExperience in Agile or rapid experimentation environmentsHands-on experience designing and deploying backend services in cloud environmentsStrong experience with infrastructure-as-codeExperience owning environments end-to-end (local → dev → prod)Familiarity with cloud-native services (compute, storage, networking, IAM)Strong backend data experience, including SQL-based databasesPreferred Qualifications:Recent hands-on experience with agentic or orchestration frameworks for AI-driven applicationsExperience building autonomous or semi-autonomous systems that interact with APIs, data stores, or workflowsFamiliarity with data platforms, analytics, or experimentation frameworksSalesforce platform knowledge (Sales, Service, Experience Cloud)Skills/Abilities:Excellent problem-framing and analytical thinkingStrong communication skills across business, technical, and executive audiencesAbility to operate autonomously with minimal directionComfort presenting unfinished work and iterating quicklyHigh adaptability in complex, enterprise environmentsBias for action and ownershipStrong customer empathy and user-centered thinkingWorks on ambiguous, high-impact problems, not long backlogsOptimizes for learning speed and outcome validation, not just deliveryBalances clean design with pragmatismIs comfortable operating without perfect requirementsInfluences roadmap and investment decisions through evidenceCore Competencies:Building RelationshipsDevelop PeopleLead ChangeInspire OthersThink CriticallyCommunicate ClearlyCreate AccountabilityOffice Requirements:Required in office 2-3 days a week out of our headquarters in Hanover, MD or offices in Jacksonville, FLBenefits Overview:Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
