Labor & Delivery RN - Day Shift
Description • Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments throughout labor, delivery, and recovery. • Monitor fetal heart rates, uterine activity, and maternal vital signs. • Administer medications and IV therapies per provider orders and protocols. • Assist with vaginal and operative deliveries, including emergency interventions. • Provide labor support and patient/ family education. • Identify and respond to obstetric and neonatal emergencies. • Maintain competency in obstetric skills, equipment, and safety initiatives. • Collaborating with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients. • Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients' charts. • Adjust and administer patient's medication and provide treatments according to physician's orders. • Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.). • Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families. • Reports accidents and incidents in the incident reporting system. • Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding patient rights. • Promotes positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, supervisors, other CHCS associates, and government regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude. • Supports and abides by the mission, values, standards, and policies of CHCS in all activities. • Ensure all equipment including vital sign machines, thermometers, saO2 machines are on the floor. If any equipment is not readily available, notify the charge nurse or the nurse manager. • Adheres to Kansas state board of nursing's Nurse Practice Act and other governing agency regulations and policies. • Follows hospital policies and procedures for care. • Responsible for the coordination of patient care in collaboration with the provider for various patient populations including but not limited to: obstetrical, pediatric, postpartum, trauma, time sensitive diagnosis, ER, inpatient, outpatient, and swing bed. • Assist in inventory outdate checks including but not limited to crash carts, ER inventory and room supply room/special cart inventory as assigned. • Monitors and anticipates with day-to-day needs of the patients works with interdisciplinary care team to ensure needs are met. • Provides/coordinates education for patients and their families on disease process, illness, prevention and healthy habits as appropriate. • On-going compliance with CHCS educational requirements. • Arrives on time and ready to work. • All other duties as required. Requirements Minimum: Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Nursing Preferred: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study: Nursing Experience: Minimum: 0-1 plus years of experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing Preferred: 3 plus years of experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing, with L&D experience. Computer Skills: Electronic Health Record Microsoft Suite of products Data Collection Tools Certificates & Licenses: Current State of Kansas RN license in good standing BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP, PALS (within 18 months of hire)
