The resident expert regarding process technology. Responsible for investigating and implementing new process technology at the plant. The Process Engineer is responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and optimizing the plant. This position is responsible for influencing the development of preventative maintenance programs at the facility and will have a significant role in capital improvement plans while assisting in work area design, plant layout, visual control and metric implementation, material flow, process tracking, and communication.\n\nGeneral Purpose of the Job\nThe Engineer's role is viewed as an extension of management. Responsibilities are broad and include safety, product quality, process control, productivity improvement, and development of a LEAN culture. The Engineer is expected to spend a significant amount of time on the floor.\n\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities\n\nSafety\n\nAssume a leadership position at the facility in partnership with the shift supervisors. Activities include resolution and communication regarding safety issues.\n\nExecute on scheduled PHA's and JSA's.\n\nProactively monitor area and remediate potential safety issues.\n\nUse DAKOTA software as a tool for compliance and environmental, health and safety. Use the tool to report incidents, near misses, and non-conformances.\n\nLEAN Culture\n\nDevelop and execute upon \"standard work\" activities.\n\nAssume responsibility for assigned activities on the Engineering Tier and other accountability boards.\n\nConduct \"GEMBA Walks\" daily. Use walks as the primary means of education and communication of expectations.\n\nImprove productivity through elimination of non-value-added activities. Apply Engineering principles and methodologies to Improve productivity and eliminate waste.\n\nProduct Quality\n\nWork to maximize equipment efficiency and quality for output.\n\nMember of the facility QIC. Ensure identification of root cause and subsequent prevention of future customer complaints.\n\nAssist in the training of operators with a focus on quality critical product specifications and process parameters.\n\nCapable of equipment troubleshooting and process design.\n\nEducation\nBachelor's degree from a 4 or 5-year college or university. B.S.in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering.\n\nExperience\nSix months or more of PLC, Mechanical, and/or Electrical troubleshooting experience and/or training. Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical, or Controls Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
