Position requires experience within heavy industrial environments, providing engineering oversight to plant facilities, and identifying code compliant repair methodologies to existing equipment and structures.\n\nEssential Duties/Responsibilities:\nEvaluate the strength, stability, and rigidity of structures using engineering principles and methods; assess the integrity of existing structures and recommend repairs or modifications as needed\nUse computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools for structural analysis and modeling; analyze model structures and their behavior under different loads and conditions\nInvestigate and diagnose structural issues and failures, provide recommendations for repairs or modifications\nPerform risk assessments and propose solutions to mitigate potential structural failures\nReview lifting & rigging plan designs\nProvide geotechnical determinations & reviews\nSupport safe access reviews and stabilization efforts of damaged structures\nSupport of critical infrastructure inspection program\nPrepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for repair/construction projects\nOversee, conduct and document feasibility reviews of proposed projects.\nCollaborate with plant engineers, contractors, and other specialists to ensure designs meet project requirements; prepare and present technical reports and documentation for clients and stakeholders\nConduct on-site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure that the project meets safety and quality standards\nDevelop, build and maintain a working relationship with site personnel consistent with supporting open communication.\nWork effectively in a team environment as a leader, member and/or facilitator.\nProject and Work Management: Collaborate with corporate engineering, plant personnel, and external firms on the design and commissioning of complex projects.\nCompliance and Safety: Ensuring compliance with codes, standards, safety regulations, and applicable rules/laws.\nPerform other duties and assignments as required.\n\nWorking Conditions:\nThis position is a combination of remote work, in office and industrial settings.\nThis position can require up to 30% domestic travel.\n\nMinimum Requirements\nBS Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university\nFive years of prior professional experience\nExperience with advanced structural analysis software and tools\nIn-depth knowledge of structural analysis and design principles\nAbility to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards\nEffective communication skills, both written and verbal\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nMS Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license\n7 years of experience in an industrial environment (power, chemical)\nExperience with advanced structural analysis software and tools\nIn-depth knowledge of structural analysis and design principles\nAbility to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards\nEffective communication skills, both written and verbal\n\nAdditional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nProficiency in AutoCAD, STAAD, Navisworks\n\nPhysical Requirements (Demand and Frequency):\nMust be able to wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, face shields, hearing protection, respirators, fall protection harnesses, and other PPE as required.\nDuties require extensive manual dexterity in usage of computer terminal and keyboard, while sitting for extended periods of time preparing budgets, work scopes, outage schedules, and other reports as needed.\nMay be required to enter Permit Entry Confined Spaces\nMay be required to perform equipment inspections by climbing vertical ladders and accessing scaffolding, kneeling, bending, walking over uneven surfaces such as loose rock, open grating, up and down staircases.\n\nNRG Energy is committed to a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
