Job Description: Assistant Teacher
Classroom Management
Create a nurturing, child-center classroom environment
Ensure a safe classroom environment and report any concerns to administration immediately
Create and maintain schedules, routines and procedures that lead to a safe learning environment for all children
Interact with children - play, read, sing, etc.
Oversee the cleanliness and overall appearance of the classroom
Lesson Planning
Plan and implement lessons that include all areas of development, learning targets, and are aligned to the Ohio Learning Standards
Implement a variety of resources and tools for the students to explore, manipulate, and discover
Adapt lesson plans to meet the various developmental abilities and interests of children Submit lesson plans by Friday for the following week
Respond to feedback appropriately by making adjustments
Parent Communication
Communicate daily via information sheet (i.e. food, naps, diapering, photos, etc.)
Communicate in regards to any concerns about a child
Lead all conferences with families
Maintain parent board with current updates Documentation
Maintain correct child licensing documents
Administer developmental assessments
Ensure attendance is accurately collected

Serve as an ambassador for the center
Serve as a role model and leader for all staff
Contribute to the positive culture of the center
Live out the mission of the center
Communicate concerns with the administration in a clear and timely manner
Adhere to the Employee Handbook
Works full time (40 hrs a week) Evaluations
Participate in two formal evaluations a year, one announced and one unannounced Participate in a yearly review
Dress in a professional manner, as appropriate for interaction with children
